Check this out at ebay:

Wonder if they're worth it? And if anybody's done this, your 2 cents would be appreciated.

I was considering those a while back but didn't pull the trigger cause I wasn't sure how much of a hassle it would be to replace all those bulbs.

I replaced mine with PIAA bulbs. So far so good. It wasn't too bad replacing the dome lights, door lights and licence plate bulbs. The bulbs I have are quite blue. They actually give off less light than stock but I can still see fine.

The ones I put in the back door are twice the wattage of stock (10 vs 5, maybe) so that helps. The license plate bulbs are more white than stock.

I did something similar. I was hoping for more illumination and less blue. I wanted closer to white than stock with only a hint of blue. But I don't think you have much choice with interior bulbs.

Old gimmic ! I've replaced all those bulbs you guys mentioned with PIAA for the past 5-6 years ! FIRST thing I do when I return home with a new car, GET RID OF THOSE TACKY YELLOW OEM BULBS :16: :16: :16: :16:
pisay87
Okay I'm interested. Can you guys please tell me a good place to get those PIAA bulbs?
Fabvsix
pisay87:
Simple.....go to www.piaa.com then click on find a local distributor in your area. Its that simple. The only "heads up" is its most likely to be a Rice shop.....know what I mean, shops where those rice punks by all that crap they put on their cars.....fart pipes, stickers, guages etc.....
The changing of these bulbs is just a simple task !
Let me know if you any further questions !
Here are some in your area:
CBT IMPORTS 2500E OLD MIDDLEFIELD WAY
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA 94043
(650) 966-1197

CAMPWAY 2090 EL CAMINO REAL WEST
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA 94040
(650) 964-2363

BILL'S AUTO ACCESSORIES 43 S CAPITOL AV
SAN JOSE, CA 95127
(408) 923-6543

no pun intended !
pisay87
Fabvsix, actually I've already called a bunch of dealers in my area listed in the PIAA website the other day and nobody had the lows/highs/fogs in stock.

After seeing your post, I tried calling the 3 dealers you listed and the 3rd one now has them in stock. Looks like I'll be dropping by today.

Thanks.

So what's the cost difference between the PIAA interior bulbs vs the ones on eBay?

IIRC, I did my PIAA interiors for around $60-$70.

I just installed the bulbs posted by the OP in front map and cargo area lights of my X. At first, it didn't seem to be as bright as stock. But after a few minutes, it did seem to be a lot brighter (may because my eyes got used to the whiter light). The light is gives out is very white. I can clearly tell the difference.

But the bulbs do not seem to fit into the center map light housing. From what I can tell, the new bulbs are fatter and pops right back out whenever I plug it in. However, I just realized that the seller gave me additional bulbs that I was not aware of and I may have tried those instead of the ones I should have been using. Will try it again tonight to confirm.
Fabvsix
There are different bulbs required in the interior from PIAA ! Some smaller/larger, pull out, and "snap" in type.......
mdxer01
I got those lights from e-bay. i think they were from Canada or somewhere up there but anyways they're not as bright as i thought they would be. worth the money? NO, I think you can find better at your local stores.

Were you able to install them in the dome light? I sure as hell can't. Keeps on popping out.

Just got the PIAA bulbs for the interior lights the other day. I will try find some time to install them over the weekend. I followed kishino's parts list in this thread .
mdxer01
I had that same problem w/ the dome., the left bulb would constantliy fall off. What I did was add a little bit of crazy glue to outside of the clip, make sure not to much, just enough so the bulb would catch. Never fell off again:D
Fabvsix
MDXer:
You bought the incorrect size if you needed to ghetto super glue it ! Gheez ! You got to be kidding right ? Glued it ? You simply bought the wrong bulb. There are "3" different size interior bulbs for the MDX !
No pun intended !

And I thought I was the only one to have problem putting them on! They are definitely not worth it, just crap. Like they said, you get what you pay for. I threw all of them away and went with PIAA bulbs, they cost more but go right in just like the stock ones and are way better as far as light output and much whiter as well. I'll try the led ones once I got them.
Fabvsix
I tried to convey that, but I guess some just don't trust my opinions !
PIAA are the BEST ! Fit like a glove ! I used them for the past 5 plus years in ALL my Acura's and Honda's !
mdxer01
Yea, guess that was getto fab, but they came in a set so didn't want to hassel w/return so I'll just wait till they burn out then try the PIAA. Know any site I can get them from?:1:
PremiumMDX
Guys,
The best bet would be all led bulbs, just replaced all of them, it couldn't be better. Light output is really bright and white, they don't generate as much heat to the touch and the best part is they are cheaper then PIAA and last almost forever. Go to this website, read to your content. I'll order another batch for my NSX.

Hey, Premium,

So, if I understand correctly, you've tried some of the bulbs available on Ebay, and you've tried the PIAA bulbs, and now you have the LEDs. Some have complained that the PIAAs weren't as bright as they'd hoped, and you said the LEDs are really bright and white. Would you say the LEDs are brighter than the PIAAs? Also, I checked out the superbrightleds.com website...do you have to order them individually, or can you get a kit?

Thanks much for your help,

Paul

click on locate a dealer in your area.
Your done.............
Keep us posted !

They don't come in kits, you have to order them separately. Here's the link where you can check what kind of bulbs (stock) they use on the MDX and get the equivalent ones from them. Just remember, the more leds, the brighter it is and they are indeed white unlike the 'blue tint' on the other bulbs to make them white and they are real cool (pun intended) to the touch comparing to the other bulbs when they light up and last almost forever (20,000 hours?).

www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/A...lacementGuide/. You can also find it on the www.superbrightleds.com website, click on 'Click here to identify the bulbs in you vehicle', it will lead you there.

I just did the bulb swapping on my NSX, coudn't be happier.

Paul

Let's see

1 X WLED X6 ( map light)

6 X WLED X4 (dome and doors)

2 X WLED X2 (license plate)

2 X 921X9 (back-up lights)

I need to get

3 X 3022 4LED Festoon bulbs 30X10 (for the rear hatch door and glove box) ;)

I guess while I'm sitting here, I might as well bug you one more time. Can you tell me what you'll end up paying for all the lights you've listed above?

Paul
PremiumMDX
Well, the price of each one is listed on their site, you do the math. To me, beside the look, I don't have to worry about changing the bulbs again for as long as I own the car, considering the cost, it's well worth it. Shipping is minimal, ($5.00) for the whole batch if you order all of them at once, and they ship them out real fast, just a couple of days from MO to CA by priority mail. If you're not satisfied, you can always return them for a refund or exchange within 30 days, coudn't be any easier.:)
