I'm now in the market for replacing speakers. I've searched and searched but didn't find any one list that tells the readers what 6.5" speaker fits without modification, fits with some cutting of the rain guard, or fits along as you windows are never rolled down as long as you own the X.
So I thought maybe we can start a list (I'll keep editing this post so that the list gets longer) and all I need your help on is categorizing based on your experience (please do not post if you haven't actually done the install as we want this list to be accurate). To keep this list simple, let's just stick to fiment (no pricing, sound quality, etc. etc.) which can be researched separately.
Please help me and the others.
Only thing I know per my search so far are:
Coaxials
No modifications necessary:
1. Infinity 6002I
2. Infinity 6002SI
3. Pioneer TS-1665
Need to cut Rainguard/Slight modifications:
1. Boston Acoustics FX6
2. Crystal CSx615
Won't fit/Need custom modification:
1.
Components
No modifications necesary:
1. Boston Acoustics Z6
Need to cut Rainguard/Slight modifications:
1. Crystal CSc60S
2. Boston Acoustics 6.5
Won't fit/Need custom modification:
1.
I know some of you have installed CDT, Boston Acoustics FX6H, Diamond Audio, MB Quart, etc. but could not tell how much modification, if any, was necessary for the install.
Let's see if you can get this list going:D |

| For my Crystals, I removed all rainguards and had to do some cutting in the rears for them to fit. I did not need any spacers. The models are CSc60S (fronts, components) and CSx615 (rear, coax with separate cross over). |

Thanks and I checked it before posting.
Crutchfield didn't measure MDX so the their list doesn't work for speakers (they just have "Sorry..............did not measure........" |

Boston Acoustics Pro6.5 components fit with cutting of rain shields.
These are probably some of the deepest speakers you will find in their respective diameters.
I don't think we have had any window glass interference with any speakers members have tried thus far. |
