What are fender flares? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi. I'm new to the site and have not ordered my MDX yet (I've decided to wait for 2002 model). I have noticed in the descriptions at the end of your posts that some of you have flares (painted?)and I don't know what they are. Does anyone have pictures? Also, what do you mean by painted lower trim? Are the flares and the trim dealer installed options or after market? Any information would be appreciated. I've enjoyed reading your posts and can't wait to get my MDX (husband thinks I've gone a little loopy about this car though!). Thanks!
Gymnasticsmom--

I don't have a picture of the fender flares, I don't even have the fender flares. But I can try to explain what they are. They are a plastic (I think they are plastic) cover that goes over your fenders around the wheels. They come in a greyish color. Some people want them painted to match the color of their MDX because they only come in one color. The discription the book thingy has is, "Fender flares are and accessory on the side panels, and keep mud from landing on the side panels, and help to accentuate the MDX's unique technical suitability for foul-weather outdoor adventure." Does that tell you what it is. If you go to your Acura dealer you can get the broshure of the MDX and it will tell you all the accessories it has for the MDX. There is a picture of the fender flares on page 32.
Hope this helps you for now.

Better yet, go to Tim's web site ( http://www.hondacuraworld.com ) and you can see pictures of all the accessories.
Hey good idea, why didn't I think of that?
