Amazingly still in stock this morning.

If you haven't heard of woot before, they sell one product/day (well sometimes they have a woot off which rotates items as the sell out).

On hot items like this they generally sell out early in the morning.

Good Luck!

It's back, I just picked one up.

Rockford Fosgate WiFi Car/Home Audio Bundle
http://www.woot.com/
XStatic
I bought 2 sets last time and I haven't installed in the MDX yet, but I have installed in my 1994 Isuzu Trooper.

AWESOME!

Only downsides so far:
It takes about a min for the drive to warm up after getting electricity when it is below freezing outside.
While the car seems to sync fine wirelessly (Did initial 12Gig sync via USB) I am having a heck of a time getting the in home device to work reliably over wireless. Works great plugged into cat 5 but isn't stable over wireless. No built in signal strength meter, still trying to work this issue out.

Overall highly recommended!
XStatic
They are still available, must have a bunch this time!

Found another negative aspect. No FF or REW!
mdxx3
Yeah, I've never been able to find that FF or REW either (have to rewind the entire song or jump to the next song but not partially inside the same song).

The big pet peeve I have with MP3 players is they add a one second or so blank/pause/delay between songs so that the different songs don't stick together. Nice but if we rip those non-stop remixed discs to digital format, there goes the non-stop part!

I am pretty sure my Archos with RockBox opensource firmware does a crossfade. Something I have does anyway, nice feature...

Should be coming up again soon:

Rockford has approved a final sales event on the Omnifi bundle at $199.99. We anticipate being able to offer this as early as next week -- looks like next Tuesday or Wednesday now. We've received a ton of mail asking us if/when this was possible, so we think it'll be well received even as a repeat item. We would love to have any friends/coworkers/family of yours that might have heard about or seen your purchase and wanted in on the deal. We feel that we have sufficient quantity to last at least through the early morning hours and into the work day, but this is the last day anyone will be able to offer this deal.

Hold on to your USB ports, Wooters – this is the last go round for the nearly famous, all-exclusive, all-inclusive bundle of the Omnifi Product Line including 4 full retail packages: Home Digital Media Streamer (DMS1), Omnifi/D-Link Home WiFi Adapter (DWL-120R), Omnifi Car Head Unit & 20GB Enclosure System (DMP1), and Omnifi/D-Link Car WiFi Adapter (DWL-121), at a jaw-droppingly low price you just won’t find anywhere else. If you missed it before, be sure not to miss it this time because this is the last batch that's available. We'd like to thank all the Wooters that bought this bundle for making this exclusive offering a success.

Eh.... I think you're supposed to say, "Free unlimited lifetime tech support from XStatic!!" and everybody will run over there and order one:D (And we need people that ordered one to disclose/post on this thread now to qualify for this free tech support plan, right?! :))

MUST RESIST!!!:2:

No... must not resist!!! :D But ok to resist if you're putting a mini-ITX PC in there soon.

Where's Rvehock? Your turn to join in and bump the thread (this is easier than doing tech support related to network stuff!!)

There are a couple downsides. No FF & REW, sometimes it gets backed up if you fo through the menus too much. Not near as bad as my TiVo though...
And maybe a firmware upgrade will be coming soon to add these and other features, or perhaps a firmware hack.
I get the strong feeling Woot made a large impact on the number of these units sold.

It is just too cool to download fresh contect with the WiFi such as Adam Curry-Source Code, Leonard Lopate, Nasa News, WGBH Morning Stories, etc. Coupled with the availablity of my entire MP# collection. Just too cool....

Sure video playback would make it better, but I am not ready to pay what that would cost right now so I will live with this bargain.

The DMP1 car set (home DMS1 not included) is back on woot.com for $140. No matter what price it is, it's still cheap. The average guy's music/CD collection is worth several thousand dollars and we can dump it all in there. Then go buy/find more new music and stuff it in there too. Just remember... hardware is cheap... it's the software (music) that costs a whole lot. However after reading the Yahoo Omnifi group, I've come to a conclusion this kind of product isn't for everyone - must be an IT kind of guy to do the setup but once it's working, it's really sweet...
XStatic
Gees they have a lot of these, they must be running out soon!

Back at Woot.com this weekend!

The DMP1 with wireless adapter is back on woot.com for $99.99 (DMS1 not included)

Darn it... I paid 3.5 times more for the same DMP1 set last year... :1pat:

it's kinda of cheap that you can probably consider it as a back-up device. what do you think?

Hmmm... If I do, I'll get to average it out... :5:
Must resist!!! Oh great... I'm talking like Warzau now. :2:
jrtiger
Couldn’t resist now have a backup. After the install and pulling cables in the SUV if this one dies I have a backup. I just need to get a bezel made for the controller. Mdxx3 I am making my bezel out of mdf like you did and I was wondering how you cut the slot for the DMP1? Jigsaw, router, table saw, laser, dynamite? I have my template done just need to cut the mdf.

jrtiger
mdxx3
Ha ha... you've got a backup?!! I really should go get one too. I've already voided my DMP1 warranty:bonk:

Anyways, to make the slot, it was a 2 step process for me. In part 1, start with a "thin" 1/4" board. Paste the drawing of this opening on this board (or draw on this board if you don't have the letter-sized Avery sticker paper). Use a jigsaw to cut the rectangular hole. Use a metal file to smooth the four edges/lines - this now becomes a wooden template. Then part 2 is to bolt this 1/4" board to a 3/4" thick MDF board. Then use that jigsaw again to cut a hole in this 3/4" MDF... but not too close to the actual line/edge... maybe about 1/8" inside of the 4 sides. Then use a router to route out the balance and there it is...

(I've got some pictures of my modified/updated bezel thing coming up soon. Finished it last weekend. Now I'll have to go paint it...)
jrtiger
Thanks mdxx3 for the information on the bezel I will give it a try. I am using 5/8-inch mdf and with a mounting setup hope to make the controller flush with the opening. I took the plastic back plate from the console hole area and had the color paint matched. I hope to spray it with three coats and sand with 200 sandpaper between coats to give it a plastic look and hope it will match the surrounding console area, might even try to texture it. Again thanks for the information.

mdxx3
Hey jrtiger, good luck on your project and you're very welcome.

I was painting the first layer of primer a little earlier, looked at it and said.. wait a minute... I used 5/8" MDF there instead of 3/4" that I mentioned earlier. Oh man.. my memory is out of warranty too...

Anyways, this time I'm using a paintbrush as it kinda gives a horizontal texture when I paint it in this (horizontal) direction. Last time it was too dark, and now I'm going a little lighter with 90% black and 10% white. I did another item a few weeks ago with this mixture and it was pretty much like the factory radio color. So I'll try to do this mixture again in the next few minutes...

Another chance to resist!! :D
$99 for the DMP1 car kit on http://www.woot.com again...
This time it appears they're providing an FM modulator module too...
Rob2005
I'm thinking about making this purchase, but I see that the product has been out since early last year. Does anyone know if an update (DMP2???) will be coming out soon? I don't want to buy it and then have a new model come out the next month.

mdxx3
If you buy one now, a new model will come out next month. If you don't buy it, they won't release... :hmmm: It's almost the same like having it rain the next day after washing a car. Actually it's looking like there's only a small chance they will release this DMP2. I think the Rockford Fosgate (parent company) executives will not be shy to shut down a struggling division like Omnifi. They already did that to MB Quart in Germany (Rockford happens to own Quart too). If they actually release a DMP2, I'll go get one as long as it's in the $300-400 range at intro time. The DMP1 is priced like a disposable thing these days (costs about the same as 2 tanks of gas). So if you decide you like one, I think you might as well just go for it now...

Disclaimer: Remember the rain thing :D

Thanks MDXX3! You're right...they are too cheap at this point to worry about it. If I can find one for sale online, I'm buying.

Does anyone know of a site that has them for sale? I've found a few that have them listed, but no stock. I imagine it might be a little tough to locate one new.

Based on the current on-line prices i see, and since you seemed willing to wait in case a new model is released, I would suggest you just make a point of checking out woot.com everyday. They show up there every month or two and at a much better price than what I see out there now.
