PIE electronics has announced it is coming to market with a unit that will not only power the ipod but also makes it controllable from the radio!! They do not have avail date yet, but I spoke with an engineer today and they expect to have it available soon. This plugs into the satellite radio input so the downside is it disables the XM radio that comes installed. The list price will be around $159. Can't wait!!!
Here is the info from their site: http://www.pie.net
FROM PIE:
The only iPOD® interface that allows DIRECT PLAYLIST ACCESS, as well as track up/down, fast-forward, rewind, and shuffle functions to be controlled from your factory radio.
The PIE PC-POD iPOD® interface also allows “fast track” which is a rapid track up / down function, and “bank select” which will allow you to select banks of 99 songs, for more rapid navigation through your iPod music collection. This device will also charge your iPOD while it is connected to your vehicle.
With this single interface, you can listen to, charge, and control your Apple iPod (3G, 4G, and Mini) through the CD changer controls of your OEM radio. Simply plug the i-Pod into the provided dock cable, stow your iPod out of sight, and enjoy your iPod music library. Control of the I-Pod interface is now accomplished through the CD changer/steering wheel controls of your OEM radio eliminating the need to fumble with the iPod while driving. Simply configure your favorite iPod music into 6 or 10 identifiable playlists (number of playlists depends on the OEM radio). You can then select these playlists using the disc select functions of your OEM radio. Each playlist is seen as a disc to the OEM radio and has the capacity to hold up to 9,999 songs!
IMPORTANT APPLICATION NOTES:
Works with the following non-navigation equipped vehicles with or without the 6 disc in-dash CD changer:
ACURA:
2005 MDX
2004-2005 TL
2004-2005 TSX
HONDA:
2003-2005 Accord
2005 CRV
2003-2005 Element
2005 Odyssey
2004-2005 S2000:2: :2: :2: |

| Just an additional note. PIE currently has a connector available NOW that goes into the aux input. The downside? No charging of the ipod, and you must control the ipod itself. This is still good news if you don't WANT to disable the satellite radio. |

Couldn't figure out the poll you have, but here's my response to the issue -
I am not renewing my XM subscription beyond the trial so I could care less (actually its better) if it disables XM. However, I do have navigation and what's the solution for nav equipped vehicles?
Currently the best options seems to be to use the Aux port and a separate charger. Shouldn't be too much of a problem. Gotta look into this. |

If you also have the DVD, I believe there is another option available through pie.net. There is also a site on Yahoo called "Logjam" Electronics which had info on 2005 models with nav. Pie.net has something for the headphone jack which does go into the aux input, but then you have to control the ipod directly, it won't read on the radio screen. Re: poll. I think I screwed that up....oops. |

Well if the product info is on the site that shows it's compatible with 2005 MDX, I couldn't find it.
Poorly designed site with even worse product descriptions and naviagtion. |
