| Ordered Mahogany/touring/no nav for 2002. We are also beginning to draw plans for our new house. Can anyone tell me how high the MDX is with the roof racks? I really don't want it to scrape the top of the garage door opening like my wife's old Expedition! Thanks. |

Where'd u find land around here?
Touring is 71.3" high
Base (no racks) is 68.7" high
Length is 188.6" both trims
Width is 77.0" both trims
(you might consider an extra-wide garage, too -- ours is a tight squeeze for 2 cars now w/the MDX.) |

Add a couple of inches for the antenna, which sticks up above the roof rack.
I have an early 80's house, and the garage is REALLY Low. When the door closes, there is less than an inch between one piece of hardware on the garage door and my antenna! For awhile I was going without the antenna, but decided to give it a try, and it barely fit!

Height of the garage itself is not a problem but when we open the rear door on the MDX with the garage door rolled up (when we get home from the store and we are unloading the cargo area) there is VERY little space between the doors.
Additionally, we had to rearrange things a little so that we could pull the MDX up farther into the garage so that the rear door could be opened while the garage door was down.
Thankfully, the door opener hardware runs down the center of the garage otherwise it would be impossible to open the rear door in the garage.
I concur with Worm regarding the width of the garage. With shelving units on both sides of the garage, I'm thankful our other car is a Civic! As it stands, passengers on the right side of the MDX must enter/exit the vehicle outside of the garage. (This can be a little inconvenient during inclimate weather.) |

The height of our garage doors is so low, that I must Back in my MDX in order to be able to open the rear hatch. If I pulled in nose first, there would be no way to open the rear hatch.

TheWorm,
You got me confused with another user, who started this thread. We have very similar names (and the same occupation). I would love to build a home around here, but like you said, where would I find the land?!?
We have a wider than average 2 car garage, since it was previously a carport before it was turned into a garage by a previous owner. However it is lower than the average garage. The arm that attaches the garage door opener to the door itself would hit the rear door of the MDX if the rear door is open when the garage door is opening or closing. The first time I tried to open the garage door when the rear door of my MDX was open, the "arm" on the garage door hit the rear window wiper on the MDX and the whole door stopped moving. There's a little scratch on the wiper arm, but it still works OK. If I had parked a few inches over to the right , there would now be a big scratch on my MDX's beautiful MB finish! Make sure you consider the height of the garage door as it opens and closes when you design a garage. |

Oh, yea, mistaken identity!
Learned the hard way about this very subject. Public garage @ the Embarcadero center. 6'6" clearance is enough for the rack/antenna, but not for opening the tailgate. Self-inflicted a ding (paint scratched, but I can buff it out) on the hatch. Glad I didn't call DentPro last week for the falling pinecone now that I have another for them.
This has been a public service announcement.

| Overall height was a concern for me as well. The antenna adds about 5 inches to the 68.7in. base height. Figure for 74in. |
