Well, after an absolute eternity, I received my SS MDX on June 15. Had a pretty good experience and thought I'd share a few thoughts. First, the dealer said I was the most informed buyer he has ever seen. Thanks AcuraMDX.Org! I was able to use this knowledge to help with the price. My dealer quoted me $940 to install the trailer hitch package. I told him for that price, I'd prefer to buy the hitch and cooler from HondaAcuraworld and install it myself. So, shortly thereafter, the installed price became $640. I thought this was pretty good considering it would have cost me $503 from Tim and a little sweat. Needless to say, of course I payed sticker price for the MDX. The dealer also threw in a set of wheel locks.
Also checked for the little things, like full fuel tank, air pressure, the pen, etc. Also, the sales person took me through a tour of the service shop, I met the service manager, mechanics, and concierge. Everyone was very professional. The service shop also services Lexus, Jaguar, Ferrari, and MB. The sales person took me out to the vehicle and showed me how everything worked- of course I already knew, but I wanted my money's worth.
Well, then came the big moment, driving it off the lot. Awesome! After about ten miles, I started hearing a "thunking" noise. I became enraged, thinking I was hearing the famous "thud". Then I remembered I caught a ride to the dealer from the golf course and my golf clubs were banging around in back. Whew!
My base carrier and painted rear deflector should arrive from Tim any day now, and the McNeil mats fit quite well. I had planned on getting the MasItaly wheels as Rail has, but for the same price, I can but other toys, like another sailboard for my roof rack. Now my only problem is getting a little door protection. Considering the Manik steps, or possibly going with aftermarket side moulding as discussed on the site.
Thanks again everyone for your help. Now I can respond to the posts as an experienced MDX owner, not a wannabe. |
