Blitzsafe and OmniFi - Click HERE for Original Thread

So many choices so little time. I order the OmniFi and would like to connect it to the factory radio/sound system. I have looked on the site at many postings and visited Blitzsafe and LogJam but still not sure what I need. I will call LogJam but was hoping for some member input on the matter. I noticed some people are using the Hon/Aux DMX V.1 but on the LogJam site it indicates another interface for the Navi equipped Honda/Acura’s, which is Hon/Sny iti V.2, but that seems to also be for a Sony changer. What I hope for is someone that can set me straight on the Blitzsafe model number for the 04, 6-disk in dash CD changer with Navigation. Just to make it more confusing will a PIE adapter work and if so which one? Thanks for any help in this matter.

jrtiger,

I used the HON/AUX DMX V.1 on my '04 with NAV (6 CD in dash changer) and ignored the campatibility warning on the Logjam site about the NAV system. It worked great. The blue connector plugged right into an open connector on the back of the stereo. I then bought an adapter cable at Radio Shack to go from the 2 RCA jacks to the 1/8 micro-jack (headphone jack) on my Pocket PC. I forgot the Radio Shack part number, but the length was perfect for routing to the center console. Once the Blitsafe is plugged in, alternate pushes of the CD button will switch between the internal CD changer and whatever you have plugged into the Blitsafe. The Aux input shows up as CD 1, Track 99. Have faith, it will work.

Seapuppy,

Thanks for the information. I thought that the HON/AUX DMX V.1 interface might work but wasn’t positive. I will order it today and I hope in the next week or two to do the install. When that’s done I will post pictures. Thanks again for your help.

Hey, folks,

I've got a question along these lines...I have an 02 with Navi (no RES) and I have seen that the most recommended Blitzsafe adapter on this message board is the HON/AUX DMX V.1. (I've got a Delphi Skyfi2)

However, I just got an email back from Blitzsafe tech support that said the adapter I need is the HON/XM DMX DEL V.1. That's one I've not seen recommended here by anyone. I sent him back an email asking about it, but thought I'd get some input here as well. Can anyone help?

Many thanks,

Paul

I have a 01 base model with a dealer installed CD player under the drivers seat. i would like to remove the CD and use that connection for my XM input. There is a multi pin connector from the CD to the bus cable. Anyone have any information on the wiring diagram for the connector or how to use this conncetor to get sound to the radio? I thought this approach would be a better solution than taking the radio out.
Thanks

Ripping that multipin connector will not work because the changer has some firmware in there. It tells the factory radio "I'm a CD changer. I'm on disc 2 track 5", etc. That's why we still need a Blitzsafe, PIE, etc adapter. The Blitzsafe tells the radio "I'm a (fake) changer and I'm playing Track 99 Disc 1 now" (that's why we see that on the radio's display). The PIE says "I'm a (fake) changer and I'm playing Track 1 Disc 1 now", and then the factory radio will open the aux/CD port and let the music in...

Not that I'm now completely un-confused...

Blitzsafe customer support responded to my questions (about HON/AUX DMX V.1 vs HON/XM DMX DEL V.1) thusly:

"You can use either as they both offer RCA connections. We suggest the XM part number because the board has different components to optimize the sound quality for XM."

Anyone have any opinions on this?

Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply. Will the Blitzsafe plug into the connector the CD changer plugs into, underneath the driver seat, or will I have to pull the radio? I am trying to aviod that if possible.

A Blitzsafe, PIE/DPX or any equivalent device has to plug into the back of the factory radio. If you do not have anything under the radio (like a DVD player), you can plug it in from this open area without having to remove the radio.

Your CD changer will not work after you plug in that Blitzsafe (but I think you mentioned you want to remove that CD changer anyways...)

mdxx3-

I'm a bit confused about your post. I have an '04 MDX with Nav, would like to install the Blitzsafe for a Sirius radio. Do I need to pull the radio? I don't have an external changer, so it would be great if I could use the plug under the driver's seat.
Thanks. Sorry if I'm being dense.

The Blitzsafe is supposed to hook-up behind the factory radio (not under the seat). Also, that cable won't be there unless there is a CD changer pre-installed under this seat.

Below is a picture of what I mean... since there is a DVD player under the factory radio, we can't put our hand in there to reach the back of the factory radio (we'll have to remove the radio to reach the back).

If you do not have this DVD player, then it's much easier - just remove the not-an-ashtray, 12V power port and the plastic trim inside there and you can reach the back of the radio. Good luck with your install!

NOW I read you loud and clear. Thanks for the advice; I'll let you know how it goes, but that, indeed, will be much easier!

Thanks for the advice. I couldn't find any documentation on the process so I put one together:
