Are you using one of the following desktop search tools? Which one are you using? MSN? Google? Yahoo? AOL? Ask Jeeves?

None, I think most of them are not secure enough for my liking.

What he said :4:

Google has had documented probs already. Click here

Although they fixed this bug I can't help but think what other undiscovered ones there are. I prefer to use something in my trusted zone that doesn't have internet access.

Google _R_O_C_K_S_ H_A_R_D_!!!

Though there are probably other techincal solutions that could work just as well the google people really know how to make tools that people will use.

The desktop search is so friggin' fast that MSFT should be ASHAMED that they have not upgraded WIndows Search or Outlook search.

back on the web --the google people now have apps for local search & maps that could DECIMATE anything else. If they get a solid salesforce they could completely WIPE AWAY the "yellow pages" people...

I have gone to using the Firefox browser and it has a feature I like which is a search box in the upper corner where you can have a list of the various site you want to search, Google, Yahoo, Jeeves, ebay, amazon, etc.

I also have pretty much eliminated spyware on my computer since dumping IE for Firefox.

I like google but I don't trust it enough for something like this. When I open Picasa, the google picture editing software, my security software says it's trying to access the internet. WTF ?

Lookout is the first tool I found but it was kind of slow. I also tried the beta Google Desktop Search but I found reindexing requires uninstall/reinstall the software. I also tried the MSN Search with ZoneAlarm Pro installed and found no internet activity when indexing and / or searching. I am wondering if anyone had done a similar testing (with ZoneAlarm) with those desktop search tools.

I seem to get the best results with www.alltheweb.com

Not as fancy as the other search engines, but it is fast and accurate.
