Before anything else, I could not have done this install without referencing Ron@se and Nhatman. Without their success, I would not have even tried to do this.
After much debate over the Navi conversion, I decided to do it.
Step by Step instructions:
1. Buy the Service Manual (you will need it later)
2. Go to this message:
http://www.acuramdx.org/forums/show...hlight=2003+res
3. Read everything there.
4. read read read
4. Enjoy your Handy work.
This conversion/addition took a total of 10 hours, including going back to the computer before I cut any wires, reading the manual pages over and over, creating wires, switches, selecting parts, drives to electronic stores and decisions on placement of items.
Tasks - To convert the Navi to play the RES (factory DVD output) and to integrate (hardwire) the Delphi Roady 2 to the AUX input on the factory RES.
Items learned:
Be careful when cutting wires, I make a mistake and cut the wrong one on the navi, bummer, but not a problem.
Label your wires and install with a wiring diagram (from Nhatman's) Works great.
REMEMBER, the netting anchors MUST BE REMOVED, that alone took 10 minutes.
Remember, I am just a guy with a car and do not recommend that you do anything illegal like drive and watch DVD's. Always only use this while the car is parked. |

I also did a search on this forum for XM* and I am following the advice of another MDX'er.
I installed the antenna in the back, right behind the radio antenna. I then ran the wire to the rubber weather stripping on the right (passenger side of the MDX). I made a small hole and inserted the cable into the opening. (TIME 10 minutes)
Here is a picture of the of the wire outside of the seal going right to the rubber. |

| Lightly tug on the weatherstripping. It comes right off, you will need to remove it to access the side panels. On the upper right in the insertion point for the cable. |

| Ok, this was for me, CLEAN THE MDX!. Then take out/off everything including the headrests and the mini storage container lid. |

I converted a RCA to Mini 1/8 plug to a mini to harness to allow me to change my mind later in life and to add plug and play to the car for an upgrade for Sound.
Here is a picture of the created wire: |

| I started to pull the wire through the openings and started to pull the panels. The D panel is the first to be removed. |
|

Here is the D panel about to be removed.
Removed the Third Passenger seatbelt holder. It was a bear to remove, real tight. |

| Here is a close-up of the panel |

| With the D panel removed, I pulled back the headliner a little to fish the lead down the side and along these wires. No cuting, there is an opening about 2 inches that will go down the side. |
|

| I removed the 2nd row seatbelt and the C panel, very easy to remove, just pull out. |
|
|
| Justasktony |
This is actually very easy.
1. Pull the 2 tabs on the front of the seats (on the bottom).
2. Unscrew the 2 bolts on the bottom front per seat.
3. Remove the 4 bolts in the back after you remove the front bolts.
4. Remove the seats through the back. |
|
|
| Justasktony |
Screw locations
1. Located in the back
2. Where the cover is inserted in the middle
3. In the front behind a little tab.
4. AND REMOVE THE CARGO TIE DOWNS!!!!!!!!!! There are 2 one in the front and one in the back, if you do not, it will not come off, trust me....
5. I have RES so there is a plug that needs to be removed as you remove the panel. I found if you reach in from the passenger door, you can just reach it to remove the clip. |

All needed panels removed
The camera control is the box on the right. |

Remove the camera control (2 bolts)
The camera control is not on the quarter panel, it is on a cross bar facing the back of the vehicle. Mine said Pioneer on it. |

Cut the wire, Splice the other one, and then run the wire. My addition is the White wire. This is Marine grade shielded wire. This is what I had on hand, so if the truck goes underwater, hey I am covered.
As Nhatman did, I took the ground from the group of grounds on the quarterpanel.
1. Also one wire run forward for power.
2. The XM antenna wire is also run along side.
A total of 3 wires running to the front. |

| Here is a picture of the relay, hidden on the panel behind all the wires. |

Next was to fish the wires. Going with another post, I lifted up the trim on the doors (passenger side. then ran the 3 wires all the way to the front to the radio.
No picture, before I knew it, it was done. It took about 3 minutes to do this. |

The panel over the Factory DVD pulls right off, then remove the center console by removing the cup holder, then the trim around the shift selector, then the panel itself. Very easy to remove.
The factory DVD has 4 screws, 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom. |

| Here is a close-up of the plugs for the DVD, the Black one (small one) is the AUX input to the DVD, this then goes to the Radio. I taped the AUX input for the sound of the XM controller. This way, When I select AUX, the XM radio will be heard through the system, without Blitzsafe or FM Mod. |

Ouch looks messy.
1. Taped power for XM. This is how I did it. I actually added another socket for the stock XM car adapter. This way, I can remove the power, and upgrade to something else later and solve the DC-DC conversion from 12v to 6v.
I can access the plug if I remove the panel on the passenger side of the center console.
The other wires are the 3 that were fished out from the back.
This picture is before I made it look nice. |
|

| Spliced the sound to the AUX plug, taped up the new 12v socket, placed everything nicely far back out of the way. |
|

Replace the DVD
Replace the DVD cover.
Install the switch:
I installed the switch on the top of the coin pocket. Dang it, I didn't take a picture.
Replaced all Center console items
Replaced the radio. Notice the XM wires on the right side of the radio to go to the Roady2 |
|
|
| Justasktony |
Here is the first picture of the XM installed.
The driver can see the NAV screen with no problem and the Roady2 is on the included swivel that allows it to be moved out of the way.
I am still debating if I like it or not here. Since I did this last night, I am starting to have doubts and maybe I will move it a little lower. |

| Here is the actual boot of the NAV computer and notice the XM got its signal. |

Here is a shot of my NAV Screen playing a DVD!!
Note, I removed the XM so I could re-adjust the wires a little. Also with this installation, I can take the XM out of the car and bring it in the house. |

Read all of the posts here. You will learn a lot of information here.
WEAR GLOVES, I didn't and now I wish I did.
Label your wires
Print pictures of the wires you are going to cut (from Nhatman and Ron@SE's posts)
Look at Nhatman's wiring diagram, also print out the NAV computer diagram later in that post. That will help.
Before you cut the 2 wires on the X make sure you are cutting the right wires.
On the wire cuts, I installed male/female connectors, so I can bypass my mod at a later date if needed.
oh yeah, and before you put the radio back in, attach the antenna. Oops, looks like I have to take out the radio again!
If you have the back panels off, go ahead, this install is not that hard and you can do it. Patience, Ice Tea (I am in California), and about 10 hours of your life will do a great little change to your ride.
Hummmm, TV tuner, Wardriving....My next steps..
I am just a guy and read these posts. If I could do it you can too. After all, we are men.....:D :D :D (except the ladies here and you are just handy, :p ) |

| Did you lose the automatic use of the rear view camera when shifting the car in reverse? |

No, When the switch is in the normal position (no DVD in the navi) you have full access to your camera when in reverse.
If you are watching a DVD and then go in reverse, yes, it does not switch over to the camera. |
