This weeks issue of TIME magazine (June 25, 2001) has a nice full page ad for the Acura MDX.

Maybe production is finally picking up and the wait lag will be diminished!
Maybe they want to increase the demand and keep people waiting, so there won't be any discounting going on!
They've been running ads in Wine Spectator for some time now. Maybe that's the reason I saw so many MDXs over in Napa Valley in April. Still seems kind of funny that they run ads for something that there is not an adequate supply.

Aston Martin runs ads every now and then. When there is copy it is pretty humorous. Things like "if your neighbor ask where to get one, tell him he can't"...

Marketing is more than just selling, it sets up expectations & reinforces the image in owner's minds.

For me the MDX has dead on nailed the niche that includes: roomy, powerful, smooth,well-enginered, not oversized.

It means that the bar has been raised VERY high for Lexus & Infiniti. The "safari tough" ground has been wisely left for Range Rover.

WHEN there are actual "stocked" MDXs at dealers it will be too late to try and create an image. Anybody drive past a Range Rover dealer lately?
