I was told 3 days ago by the person who sold me my MDX that they were officially told that the new MDX will be a 2008 model year arriving end of 2007.

He also said the RDX will be a 2007 model year and will not be a Hybrid to begin with.

I imagine Tim should be able to confirm weather the dealers were given this info from Honda/Acura.

I know very well that they don't usually get any official word this early on. Comments, especially from a dealer would be appreciated or someone who would "really" be in the know. I am hoping to avoid speculation in this thread.

Thanks.

We do two things here - speculation and postulation. So starting one is fine by me :D

The RDX info is no surprise. I have received two different emails from Acura with pictures of "close to production" models. We all know that it will have a turbocharged 4 cylinder engine similar to the CR-V but with much more power.

The MDX information also seems to be what we've been discussing here. I'm getting the feeling that your salesman is a closet acuramdx.org reader. :4: The MDX is also unlikely to be a hybrid. Its more likely to lean towards a Cylinder Management System similar to Odyssey. But there is a lot of time left so they might even go with something similar to the Integrated Motor Assist similar to the Hybrid Accord. What's for sure is that it will have over 300 ponies! :22:

I guarantee you that Acura has not made a definite statement on the new X as of yet.

My dealer is telling me that it will be an '07 out in fall of '06.

.....dealership salespeople (most of them, not all) are some of the biggest liars. They have no qualms about doing anything, and will say anything to get you into a vehicle!!!.....As if Acura is going to brief these people, when they are so tight lipped and secretive about everything!! ....even the GMs, SMs etc. probably won't know until just a few months before launch. This is why, I think it's not coming this fall .....most likely, next fall ('06) as an '07 model as you said!! ....it seems hard for me to believe that they can go on for yet another year after next fall, when it's been out already for a long time!!

I'll take a wild guess that the '06 MDX, though retaining the current design, might get a couple more goodies here and there....possibly that REAL-TIME NAVI seen in the current RL!! :D

If they were coming out with a new model this fall, wouldn't one expect to have at least some spy shots of the next generation?

That would make sense to me... I think it's a little way off yet. The new Ody just came out, so we'll have another two years, I would guess. Of course, I have no official info, from my dealer or anyone else! :p

I work at AHM... I was told we would get the "build out" info for the current model X next year around this time. Startup of production of the "major model change" will occur in/around August/September of 2006. New Unit may come out in November 2006 as a model year '07.

Well, here are the first pics of something that's gonna be a 2008 MDX. It looks like a bigger RDX, what a dissapointment!

Per the Acura Media Newsroom, it makes it clear both the RDX and MDX will be launched in 2006; the RDX in summer, but no definitive information on when (in '06) the MDX will be on sale:

"In 2006, Acura will introduce two all-new models - the 2007 Acura MDX and the completely new RDX premium entry SUV. Equipped with an innovative new 2.3-liter turbocharged engine and Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, the RDX combines sport-utility function with sports sedan handling and performance. The RDX will launch this summer as a 2007 model."

You can read the article in its entirety at:

And I'd believe the Honda of America press release over a salesman any day; a salesman is paid to sell, plain and simple.
OP MDX
Jay you made the call a year ago and you were right on! Now give us the interior pixs!

I'll try to as soon as I get something. The problem is that they're as tight-lipped with us as they are with the public.

I did hear that there are no W/S wipers. Instead there's some sort of blower. I understand that these are on some Benz models.

This may have been on the show car model, but it is currently illegal in all 50 states to have a car with no windshield wipers (DOT mandate) and no car current comes manufactured without them.

when TL was shown with concept, there was no W/S wipers.

It has no side rearview mirror either. But the production will have it. :p

Never heard of the blower actually hitting the market. All acura concepts have a blower and no wipers, I expect it maybe in 10 years to start appearing, but not on this X.

Me thinks the show TL had cameras pointing out each side for the side view mirrors...something we will probably see on something in the future.

Windshield wipers never look good, so I see why they would be left off on show cars. As for everyday driving, a lot of NSX drivers have removed their windshield wipers for looks (not me). These are the ones who never drive their cars if there is even a slight chance of rain (like me).
