Homelink-programming problem - Click HERE for Original Thread

I just bought a '05 MDX and have repeatedly tried to program my Homelink buttons for the subdivision gate and my garage door opener. I've read all of the instructions in the manual and the nifty little flip card that comes with the owner's manual several times and even went to the Homelink website but, after several attempts to program with the gate remote, I can't get my MDX Homelink buttons to work. I know the garage door opener (Overhead Door Co.) is a "rolling" code so that has to done differently but the subdivision gate is not a rolling code and was very easy to program on my Chevrolet Tahoe with the same Homelink system (just hold the remote near the Homelink button until the light blink fast).

Anyone else have a problem programming their MDX Homelink and, if so, what did you ultimately do to fix the problem?

Thanks, good information.

By the way, following some of the suggestions in other posts, I "cleared" the Homelink buttons by pushing the first and third (instead of two and three) and then using a second remote controller, I was able to get the MDX Homelink to take a program for my security gate (a non-rolling code). I will attempt my rolling code garage this weekend (and will also program my wife's Mercedes--which was never done--Hey, I don't drive her car!) now that I'm getting the hang of this.:roadtrip:

I was not able to program my homelink to my garage rolling code, despite following all the instructions precisely. So, I called the homelink phone, and the person there walked me through it. Wallah, it worked! I thought I did it right the first time, but must have missed something. So as a last resort, call them to get it done.

Does your garage receiver have the button inside the light assembly? I was puzzled about not getting homelink to work earlier, then I discovered the Sync button INSIDE the garage light assembly instead of outside. This is the situation described in the manual where you have to press the homelink button, hurry over within 45 seconds or so to the garage sync then press your homelink again. After that 3-meter dash, it's been working ever since :D

If you are too close to the receiver, it won't program. I was doing everything right when I called in for support. She told me to back out of my garage and do the procedure again. It worked. Don't know how close you were to your gate when you tried programming and it may not be your problem but it worked for me. Be sure you do the clearing first with the #1 and #3 buttons.

Following the great advice here, I got both the security gate to my subdivision and the garage door to my house (with a rolling code) programed into my MDX homelink and it works great! The trick on the rolling code was to push the MDX Homelink button three times (slowly) rather than push and hold.

I was so enthused about how well the MDX Homelink worked I even programmed my wife's Mercedes (which I never bothered with before because I never drive her car).

Great job. Next project: homelinking interior house lights.

Once again a forum has saved me endless time and frustration. The two suggestions (pulling the MDX out of the garage, and pushing button three times) solved my problems right away. Thanks everyone.
