I have On Star in my 2003 Saab 9.3 convertible. It is terrible and a big lie! 1st it's still using 'analog' cellular service, soon to be obsolete. As of now Verizon who provides their service in the New York area where I am has fewer and fewer analog cells. And more often than not the one you need is busy or out of range. I have complained since the first day I owned the car. Recently an OnStar rep said (and I quote"..analog service in the NY area is 'SPOTTY' at it's best....we are trying to find a CURE but as of now there is none..." "There are digital upgrades and the new OnStar units are already digital - but there is none available for your vehicle".

Also, OnStar insured me before I purchassed the car that their "navigation" service will always be available to "talk us thru our destination no matter how long they have to stay on the line.." Well - first OnStar doesn't have a way to know where you are. Only when you first press the button - then as you are driving at 60 and they attempt to tell you what to do, you are no longer where you were.....you missed the turn already - which I have done on several occasions. So they ask you to pull over...

Also, they said OnStar could open our doors if we lock the keys in. NOT TRUE in my model Saab.....

Also, they said OnStar could diagnose engine trouble... Not true in my model Saab.

And more...

Meanwhile I asked them the other day what if I crash, am unconscious and in the NY area and they can't get the signal. Answer: "We can't do anything about that...."

Is there an OnStar or GM forum where I can vent and let folks know the facts???

Peter
