Can anyone tell me what model year Acura made design changes to the MDX transmissions? 03? 04? Did this solve the failure problems of the 01 and 02 model years?
Tranny failure aside...I love the MDX....I'm thinking of upgrading my 01, but need some confidence that the new model has a more reliable transmission. |

The way I understand it, from all the reading I've done; the tranny redesign happened for the 2003 model year. In 2003 Acura also bumped horsepower from 240 to 260.
In 2004 horsepower went up another 5, by way way of the dual exhaust. I don't believe they did anything different to the transmission.
I have heard about a tranny failure or 2 from 2003 owners here on this site. But I don't know if they are necessarily related to the 2001-2002 design failures. Try doing a "search" for specific threads. |
