One Keyless Remote - 2 Cars? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have an 04 MDX and just bought my wife an 05 Avalon XLS. The issue I have is: Carrying around two remote keyless entry pads and keys is just too much bulk. I know I can leave the remote off and just carry the key, but my question is: Has anyone ever heard of a single keyless entry remote that can be programmed for two different cars? Maybe it has a slide button, like the TV remotes that control two different devices or a set of buttons on each side, I don't know...I have tried searching the internet and it only comes up with alarm systems which is not what I want...I just want the keyless remote entry without having to carry two remotes.
Anyone?

I have never heard of one availiable. I expect such an animal is not availiable, especially as the vehicles are made by different manufacturers.

For Honda automobiles (incl. Acura), when you "program the remote", you are actually programming the car to match the signal that the remote transmits. If you had two Honda-made cars, you could program them to take the same remotes, but I doubt if it would work between Honda and Toyota. It shouldn't hurt to try, however. For Hondas, IIRC, during the programming process, you must program all three remotes in sequence -- I'm not sure you can do just one. Do a SEARCH on "programming remotes" or similar phrasing in this forum to get Honda/Acura programming details.

Good luck! (And remember, with identical programming, when both cars are parked "together", if you unlock one, you unlock both -- are you sure you want that to happen?)

I have my TL and MDX programmed to the same remote and it's not a problem at all since it re-lock itself if the door are not opened.
