Hi, just reporting back on the progress I am having with my 2002 MDX Touring. I have been keeping in close contact with the Better Business Bureau Auto Line and must say they stay right on things. I have met with the Regional Parts and Service Mgr. and have discussed my unhappiness with my car failing to engage when I try to accelerate. We have discussed the fact that I do not feel safe driving the car, and that I have not driven it since Feb. 11th. There has been discussion on replacing the transmission, and then looking at a new car should that transmission fail. However, do to the fact that this is a problem that is not always cured with the change of a transmission, the safety issue is formost in my mind. I do not wish to risk my safety.
In the past week I have continued to search for additional information about the MDX transmission problems and while in a dealership talking with the sales person, I asked what the changes were in the 2005 and he listed cosmetic changes and that there was now an increase in the horsepower. I asked about the transmission and he said...oh they totally changed the transmissions as they knew they had a problem there. A light bulb went on, as they had been acting as though they did not know what the problem was with my car and that they could not get it to do it for them, and thus could not repair what they could not find.
I also talked with a mechanic at a shop where I took my dad to have his car worked on and he asked why at that time I was driving the dealership courtesy car? He advised that if the car was still under warranty and having transmission problems, it would be best to get rid of it.
I looked at other cars, Lexus, Volvo, Mercedes, BMW, but I truly like the MDX...I just think I got the lemon. For those who have not read previous messages, the shop has had my car a total of 51 days, starting at about 6000 miles with the replacement of the rack and pinion steering...constant fluid leaks...replacement of the power steering pump, and now the acceleration problem.
I hope that we can reach an agreement without having to go to arbitration, but if not, I will do what I must.
Better Business Bureau Auto Line can be very helpful.
Unhappy Owner...hoping to soon be Happy again.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. |
