I've been lurking on the board for a few days now. Very informative - wish I'd discovered it earlier.
My wife's MDX is scheduled for a July build date. We ordered the base model (Canada), but have been slowly adding accessories during the 3 month wait - so far - side steps, rear mudflaps, air deflector. Is it too late to get in on the special?? ;-)
Reading the various threads, esp. problems, I'm wondering if any recent owners have been experiencing the same problems that some early owners had (eg - the thunk), or whether Honda's made some minor line changes that may have eliminated the problems.
I'm very particular about my cars. Having read some of the threads, I'm sure I'm going to be ultra-sensitive to potential problems. My wife's solution is usually to turn up the stereo so the sounds go away - but with my new found knowledge about the limitations of the Bose system, this won't be an option!

A group like this is a great resource - especially if you should have a question or a problem. BUT that doesn't mean that you should expect to personally experience everything you read about here. Here you read about everything that has happened to some 1,000 owners, some of whom can be pretty sensitive.
I have had my RoadRunner now for 6 months (14.5K miles) and have driven it pretty well across the US both on and off road.
I have NEVER heard a clunk!
I have never gotten less than 19 MPG!
And have happily tooled along with the Bose system blaring away and been quite satisfied with the sound (and I have a good musical background)!
I'm no Pollyanna by nature, and I am particular about my cars - especially a car that represents the most I have ever paid for a vehicle. I have owned great cars in the past, including a Porsche so I know a little about quality. And so far, all I have had is pure fun and pleasure and I hope (and suspect) you may have the same.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I should have put a smiley on the post since it was not entirely serious.
I am, however, still interested if Honda has made minor tweaks to their assembly process that might have eliminated some of the earlier problems.
In terms of my experience, I've been very pleased with the Acura sales process, thus far. Very low key, low pressure. Salesman was very knowledgeable about the vehicle. My only gripe was the lack of the navigation system for Canada. Even though the software isn't available for Canada, I was interested in ordering it, because we do travel in the States (and the Canadian disks will be available in about 1 - 2 years). I really don't like the LCD screen of the non-nav MDX - for all the functions in it, it could been done in 1/5 the space. Acura's sales system is not set up to allow ordering this option in Canada. Frustrating since I live only about two hours from where they're assembled!
This newsgroup is interesting because it seems to be full of people who pay attention to the same types of details that I do...

Hi golfski, welcome the the forum. I don't have an answer to your question, but I noticed your new here. Hopefully your wifes MDX doesn't have the thud noise. It is real irritating. I'm real picky about my cars too. I guess I want it perfect and I have to realize no car is perfect. But I'm working on it with the MDX. :)

| I thought Canada only have the MDX with the Touring Package available, that's what I was told at the dealer, and the rear mud flap, block heater and lug nuts comes with it. |

Maybe the dealer was confusing the block heater with the seat warmers! The rear mudflaps and the locking lug nuts SHOULD be standard equipment, but they're both optional accessories. I can't believe I'm paying almost $100 for a pair of plastic mudguards.... maybe I'll try to get a "deal" on the $65 lug nuts! The 3 month wait will drive you crazy. Every time I call the dealer to get an update, I'm tempted to add something.
Yes, Canada only offers the Touring Model - I understand from other threads, that this is how they will be offered in the U.S. for 2002.
