My wife wants to get a new patio set with a canopy. It would need to sit on the poured concrete patio which is approx 17' x 24'. Before I put the canopy together, I figured I would try to acid-stain the concrete. I've seen it on home & garden shows but they cut out all of the in-between steps and make it look probably easier than it is.
Has anyone here done or had this done to their concrete? What am I in for? It looks easy and I'm going to try faux grout lines using masking tape. Not sure about attempting the multi-colored designs I've seen.
This is a site I'm using as reference.

I'd appreciate stories, pictures and better links. |

I recently spilled vinegar on my salt finished concrete patio. It bleached the color from the concrete and now the rest of my patio looks dirty. I will either poor vinegar on the rest of the patio or...? Perhaps I'll leave well enough alone.
The faux finish on the website looks cool--almost too good to be true. I suspect that the work in the photos has been "optimized" to help sell the product. If it were me, I'd help a neighbor do his patio first. Then again, you can always rent a jack hammer if it doesn't turn out. Can't wait to see your photos. |

Thanks trixie but your post doesn't instill confidence. |
