I'm not sure if this a problem or a feature.
I have set my memory seat positions for both 1 and 2 memory buttons.
1 is for my wife
2 is for me
When I drive, in seat position 2, leave the car, turn on the alarm, turn off the alarm and open the door, the driver's seat goes to memory position 1. This is reproduceable as long as I arm and disarm the alarm (locking / unlocking the doors does nothing).
This is annoying, if I've taken the car for the day, each time I get back into the X, the seat goes to position 1 and I need to adjust back to position 2. This is a pain and an unnecessary wear on the seat motors.
Is this supposed to happen this way? Do I need to set or change something on the seat memory settings to stop this from happening? Or am I supposed to set something against my alarm key chain for the X to know which driver it is?
I read the manual and it doesn't say anything about this - I also searched the forums as well as on the inet but I don't come up with anything.
Any thoughts? |

I just found a thread on here about unlinking and linking the key fob to the memory seats by pressing both lock / unlock at the same time. I'll give this a try when I'm out with my X next time. But, how does the X know which key fob goes with memory 1 or 2? How is this adjustable?
(I bought a used X - so my key fobs don't have any writing on the back of them - all worn away :( ) |

| Switch fobs w/your wife then re-confirm that hers (soon to be yours) is linked. The one you're using (soon to be hers) already is. They were labeled (silkscreened, IIRC) 1 and 2. |

Had the same situation until I realized I was using the wrong remote, so the X always went to whatever seat position that remote was linked to. Solution was to switch remotes.
In your case, it could be as simple as swapping remotes then re-assigning the particular remote to the memory position desired. |

you guys answered my question yet again! thanks - great forum!
I just changed my seat to 1 and wife's to 2 (she'll keep the remote in better condition :)
I wish they would write this stuff in the manual so I wouldn't have to poke around everywhere to try to find how things work!
Thanks again! |
