What are you all paying for an 02 MDX Touring? I've been quoted $1,000 over MRSP in N.J. with delivery by year-end. Is this a rip-off? Does anyone know the 02 MSRP? Thanks.
and call around first - you'll find someone in the tri-state area that will discount that price. I put down a deposit for $500 over invoice, and have since discovered that a few dealerships (including Wayne in NJ if I'm not mistaken) will sell @ MSRP with no forced options.

So far, no amount of searching and asking has gotten me any reliable info on the 2002, other than it will be more expensive (no kidding) and will deliver around November.
I wouldn't pay over MSRP. I got mine for MSRP and NO forced options - and I live in a part of the country with a lot fewer dealers to choose from. There are only 3 Acura dealers in the whole state of SC, (NJ has 14) and the next nearest one is 100 miles away. I agree with JNanas, call around and I bet you can do better. You can buy a lot of Tim's goodies for $1,000.

Meep Meep
Don't pay over MSRP!! Dealer added pinstriping (free) and rear deflector (actually beat Tim's price).

I picked up mine yesterday. Ordered May 11 - delivered June 20.

Crown Acura, Clearwater FL. Try internet buying. It works great.

Use the $1000 saved for a Florida Vacation and drive your new MDX home to Jersey.

Buy it out of state. Most dealers can ship a car for around $350. So at least it would only be MSRP + $350.
Whats wrong with you people?? We [the good loyal smart, patient members of this forum, have been fighting this battle of "pay over sticker"!!! for months and months!! So it turns my stomach when i hear people were told they must pay $500.00 to $1000.00 to $1500.00 Over Sticker! for a 2002: Even when you know there's going to be a price increase of $500.00-$1000.00 or more! Unless your last name is Trump or Gates, [and if thats the case, I don't think you would spend time on this forum] I suggest you do your homework, like many members here, and read the threads that so many of us have put time effort and research into "before" you put a deposit down!
I could semi-agree with you there, GJM, although it's not easy.

What should be happening is people uniting a bit more - and deciding that they will not accept ANY markup above MSRP.

I put down a deposit at that rate mostly because my pregnant wife wanted nothing to do with continued shopping. I later realized (came to my senses, actually) that this was a poor excuse.

I've written the dealer, and I expect to be taken care of. It's early in the game, so if I don't have a response by next week, I'm canceling and starting the search over.

Some people don't have that option though. Some are coming off a lease, others are in an area that makes bargain hunting difficult (not easy in NYC, but I hear that it's a REAL pain on the West Coast).

I hear where you're coming from though - and it's definitely time for people to put their feet down.
I agree as well. The problem is that the damn demand for this car hasn't changed. So while I have been patient for 10 months, waiting and hoping that things will change, nothing has changed and I still don't have a new MDX in my driveway.

Since there are no T's or G's in my name, paying anything over MSRP hurts. Actually, I wish I could negotiate something in between invoice and msrp like other normal cars. That's just not going to happen, not atleast in the near term.

So now I've placed a deposit for a 2002 @ msrp and keep my fingers crossed that I may get the car in Nov?, Dec? or Jan?. I hope......

Live in Boston, local dealers could not get me a car until next February. Got mine at Park Acura in Akron, OH. Ordered in May, truck is dropping off at my doorstep tonight. Paid MSRP and bought runningboards (no discount) from dealer.
I am in NJ. Park Avenue accura dealer in Maywood, NJ
is promising 2002 Deleivery in Dec-Jan @ sticker price
with $500 deposit. Anyone with good/bad experience
with this dealer ? How do you trust him to give your
money back in case if you cancel the order ? Anything
to look out for, specially when delivery is so far
out and he cannot promise VIN# or anything like ?

Also any recommendation for NJ dealer would be greatly
appreciated.

acfan...

don't know if this helps, but I made sure that the saleman wrote on the contract that the deposit is refundable. Although he did this and gave me the song and dance that he wants to build a relationship and that of course I can get my deposit back, I still am unsure if I will get it back if I change my mind and get the car elsewhere. Also I put the deposit on my amex so I hope that they will help if I should need to get my deposit back...
