I will be in the market for a 2006 Acura MDX a few months from
now.
I have no idea if the 2006 model is "all-new". I have searched
the web, asked dealers etc., but have not seen anything definite.
I hope it has new skin, a little more room (like the Pilot), an
engine borrowed from the new RL, Ridgeline trunk, plus other
goodies.........remember I said, hope.
Since there are so many group buys for parts, why not a group
buy for the whole enchilada - the MDX itself. To make it simple
and manageable, I propose 2 versions:
1) The base 2006 MDX.
2) Touring edition with NAV/DVD etc.
I hope lots of people sign up & dealers will bid 1 single price. The
price people pay (and any discounts the group receives) will be
based on the MSRP for the 2 versions. So, all the base versions
will carry one price and all the touring versions will carry another
higher price.
There are other logistical issues:
1) What if a couple of folks withdraw?
Well, the dealers quote for N-2 requests along with N-1 and N.
2) What is someone wants options?
Pay extra- outside of group buy
etc. etc.
But you get the idea.
I live in the San Francisco bay area and will be happy to do a
group negotiation with local dealers.
Please post responses to gauge interest.
