| Anyone that owned a MDX previously notice that the rearview camera in the 2005 MDX is so slow to respond once the car is put in reverse? In my 2003 MDX, as soon as I put it in reverse, it would turn on the rearview camera. In the 2005 it could take up to 3-5 seconds.... that's a long time considering, I pretty much start the car put it in reverse and go... |

Didn't have an '03, therefore can't compare, but the delay is the same for me. I had the same thought; boy, this takes a long time..... |

My '03 is nearly immediate.
In cold weather the screen is dark, but that's the only problem I've had. |

| This is my first MDX and I've noticed this. I don't even use it because of this and rely on the sensors. I had a Lexus RX330 and the camera came on immediately. |

First time X owner here ('05) and I too notice this delay especially when I put the X in reverse right after starting up. My guess is that the delay is caused by the NAV booting up at the same time and the system takes a few seconds before it realizes that the screen has to switch over to the rearview camera.
I've read somewhere here that the '05 NAV has been greatly improved compared to previous years, perhaps this is one side effect...but is something I can live with. :p |

I got used to instant camera as I backed out of the garage with my 03.
The 05 bug is definite and a real pain because I won't back up anymore without my bugeye camera.
Way to go Acura/Alpine; I hope this can be fixed.

The Nav is far superior in my MDX than the Lexus but the camera is definitely slow. I like my Acura better but the Lexus was quieter and the auto wipers worked flawlessly. When I mentioned the wipers to the factory rep he was downright nasty. I was surprised that he didn't try to placate me in any way. Interesting.
The bottom line is I would be quite upset but since I had the sensors installed and find them invaluable it doesn't really bother me but it would drive me nuts if I had to wait every time I put it in reverse. |

| In the 03 the rearview camera comes on immediately but if you have adjusted the brightness up it doesn't kick in the adjustment until the nav system has booted. |

| hmmmmm......I have no problems with lag time on my rear view camera, pops right up, what I do have a problem with is how long my Navi takes to boot up to that annoying nag screen! |

My car is standing in the parking lot and I have to start withr everse so that I can move forward. The momement I put in reverse it works and shows the rear view but continues for a while even putting the gear in drive mode. Looks like the camera slows down and the nav welcome screen takes time to come up.
By the way I have a 2005 X

UPDATE: Now that my curiosity had been piqued, I had to test this again. There are no issues once the NAVI has booted up; it's almost instantaneous after that. Only lag time is when I start her up. |
