Couldn't believe my eyes - there's a guy from Chicago on Ebay selling a MDX Touring and starting the bid at $47,700.00  ..... a mere TEN GRAND over the MSRP (including shipping).
Needless to say he hasn't got any bids yet.
Does make some of the dealers out there seem like amateur bandits, after all they don't try to gouge THIS deep. I guess it takes a guy from Al Capone's home town to know how to really do it right.
Check it out if you need to feel better about what you had to pay.

Remery, I thought you liked your lully-pop MDX!!! What happened? :)
Roadrunner, check a thread in classified forum (near the top) also dealing with someone selling not even the car but rather a possibly-transferrable place in line. At first that guy got an earfull, but, later, the general consensus was : "If he can find a sucker, that's a way to go!!!"
Dealers charging markups are engaging in bad and deceptive business practices abusing their "monopoly" status.
Private citizens "fooling around" like that on EBay or whereever else, excersize their "rights" and provide some comic relief. Should this guy find a sucker - good for him!!!

Couldn't agree more. If anyone is dumb enough to buy a 40K vehicle and not even bother to find out what it should cost - well, a fool and his money are not just soon parted, they were lucky to have ever met at all.
I'm going to watch this one just to see if he gets lucky. If he does - Shucks, I'll sell mine and get another. Four sales and I would have a FREE MDX - COOL!!

E-bay listing is the work of the "A.D.A"

No Kidding! What's their game? - just trolling for suckers?
I thought it was a nice touch to post a link to the Acura.com website where it would be immediately apparent that this price was pure ............ |

*Brand* new with 349 miles?
Someone who just took delivery looking to make a quick buck.
With a eBay profile and feedback rating like his, the bidders won't exactly be busting down the doors on this one. (Except for all the other anonymous fly-by-nights on eBay.) |

No vip9, my tootsie roll will remain my primary mode of transportation for some time. Was it freudian that you referred to eBay vehicle as a "lully-pop" since only a sucker would pay $47K for one.:D:D |

Does anyone know if these purported Ebay transactions are actually closing???
Lots of big numbers in the past, but I'd venture to say that quite a few are 'phantom' accounts where someone places wild bids with no intention of closing.
If you're asking 10k over MSRP, you're asking for it...

I don't know about those in the past but this particular car hasn't gotten any bids -go figure
Another (Black Touring 12K miles) has gotten a lot of bids but is still well below it's reserve price.
And at least those silly auctions for "places in line" going for $5K - $10K seem to have died out.
I know I would never buy a car on Ebay, I just do an occasional search for "Acura MDX" to look for bargains on accessories.

| I have monitored the feedback on some of these "places in line" transactions once they been completed. There never is any feedback which leads me to believe the winner is a shrill bidder (probably the guy's cousin). |

That would be "shill", unless you actually mean,
"AAAeeeiiiiiiiiii !!!" |

I have to agree with Jeff. I have bought and sold on eBay, and "buyer beware". eBay is trying to enforce sanctions on scams as mentioned by Jeff, but it is really hard to police, according to a recent email from the site. You can always post something for auction, have a friend (or yourself) bid up the price with no intention of buying. This creates an artificial value and preys upon an unwary bidder. The best eBay can do about it at this point is prohibit the individuals from the site - if they catch them.
Of course, no one here at acuramdx.org would fall victim to such tactics, especially with regards to the MDX! That is what this site is all about - educating ourselves on everything MDX.
