| hood doesn't close - problem with the latch?

Not sure what happened. Wife drives the MDX from work to home during lunch and noticed this. Came home and tried closing it but something doesn't look right.
Don't want to drive it to the dealership as the hood doesn't close completely.
Posting some close up pictures, just to give an idea. But don't think they might help a whole lot. I am guessing this is a broken spring ro something which are supposed to hold the latch. Appreciate any help.

| With my Reliant, I once had a part of the mechanism travel too far which prevented the loop from engaging correctly. |
