Just back from Detroit, and next week I'm heading to Charlotte to visit some of the wife's relatives for a few days.
Anything fun going on that would be good to bring the family to? My boys are 5 and 2 :) |

Tim,
Check out Carowinds on the SC/NC border. It's a theme park with lots of rides and a nice pool in the middle of the theme park. That's pretty much it for the Charlotte area. You could take them to Discovery Center downtown. Kids love it there.

Discovery Place in the middle of downtown on N. Tryon St. is the best bet if you only have 4-6 hours to spare. But if you want to spend the whole day doing something with the kids, Paramount Carowinds is an excellent amusement park. Just head down I-77 south until you get to NC/SC border, then exit right at Carowinds exit.
Have a good trip and let us know what you think of Charlotte. I plan to move back there around the end of this year. |

Left at 10 pm on Wed night, drove through the night, and as I pulled in to a 7 eleven to get coffee in Washington PA around 3 am, my son gets sick...... everywhere. Thankfully an empty plastic tote was nearby. He was vomiting the whole trip down and the whole next day because of some 24 hour bug.
Anyways......we rolled into Charlotte around noontime, ate lunch, rested, and did a little exploring while we were there for the 3 days. Made it as far as Inman SC.
So here are the high points of the trip.
1. Scored a Marantz 2238 stereo receiver in Charlotte
2. Hardees = :28: , Jack In the Box = :29:
3. Peach cider in SC is awesome.
4. Swear to God that I was going to get caught in a tornado in SC. People pulling under overpasses to a NY'er means only one thing
5. There is at least one person in the world that really does talk like Boomhauer.
6. SC and NC people need to spend more time in NY to stop being so friendly
7. Sheetz needs to open up locations near me
8. Make sure you get more than 6 hours rest before driving 14 hours in a damn blizzard. Soon as I hit I-19, the bad weather started and never let up. Snowstorm in West Virginia in late April, whoda thunk!
9. Glad I decided to put a CB in the van while I was there. In those hills on I-79, there was no cell signal.
Total round trip with sightseeing was almost 1800 miles. The van's in need of some sleep too.......$250 in fuel! |

| Zafer, where you been? It's a couple miles north of I-540 on US1 (on the right, heading north). |
