I just picked up my MDX from the dealer. I was in to get the nicked up seat belt pillar replaced (I mentioned it in passing when I was in for the sunroof TSB, but they ordered a part and replaced it with a smile!) and pointed out their attempt to fix the moisture inside my drivers window had not worked. As covered fairly extensively in the weeping mirror threads, the water inside corresponded exactly to when the mirrors were leaking all over the side of the MDX (my beef even ended up in Autoweek!). When I called to see if they were done with the repairs, the service advisor told me that they could not do much else with the mirror themselves and had called Acura's engineers in California about it. The engineers told him that they were aware of the problem and were working on a solution. They said they would issue a TSB when they had a fix. They did not give a timeframe for the fix, but this is very satisfying to me that one will eventually be issued. The service advisor thanked me for my patience and apologized for the inconvenience.
I have never really dealt with Acura service before.....2 Integras and a Vigor since the division started and only one service visit for the first Integra and one for the second Integra, none for the Vigor. This is the level of service I expect from Acura, but I hope I don't need it too often. I always considered water inside the window a major issue that had to be fixed, but I hoped for a fix for the leaking water outside too. I think this type of problem is unacceptable for this level of vehicle. I am glad to know that the engineers are listening to the complaints. |

A TSB for weeping mirrors can't come soon enuf, IMnsHO. Esp since we have hard water so I have to use vinegar on the front doors for days after I wash to get rid of the hard water spots.
I would guess they don't really care about the water on the outside, but as you say, on the inside is a different matter -- they're gonna have a huge warranty issue for all the wiring that's getting wet.
I just hope the fix addresses the outside and the inside. Based on Rail's fix I am guessing it will.

| This past weekend I took my MDX to a drive thru car wash...I know I should have done a hand wash but......anyway they folded the mirrors in before it went thru and I did not have the water running down the sides at all!! Has anyone else tried to fold the mirrors before they wash?? It seemed to work!! |

What is the best way to find out about this?
I have not even bothered telling my dealer about it since there doesn't seem to be a fix.
I guess I will keep watching. |

| I wanted to boink this thread back into prominence and ask that everyone be vigilant when in contact with their MDX service department and ask about this TSB and its pending release. |

Thanks for bringing this thread back up.
Just thought I'd let you know that I picked up my new GG MDX on July 10th and on the way home from the dealership there was water streaking out of my mirror.
It doesn't make me love my MDX any less. Don't get me wrong here. This is the vehicle of my dreams! Er...um... so, that would make them wet dreams, I guess! :)
Yes, it is still a problem even with this late of a build date and count me as one of the ones that wants a fix ASAP. |

I had my 3500 K service done a few days ago and had them document all issues to include the wet doors from the mirrors and the puckered leather on the seat bottom of the back seat. I think that documentation is key when it comes to "when did this start/you never told us" issues.
I fold the mirrors in and ziplock bag them to no avail. When I go around an on or off ramp my nighhawk black gets spattered with streaks and spots. I even tried the can of compressed air for keyboards to blow it out-no help! I have only ever handwashed it.
So cmon TSB !! :) |

| Just wanted to move this thread to the top so others might have a chance to read and complain to Acura about getting the TSB out to fix this problem... |

What does TSB mean? :( I'm assuming it has something to do with a fix for the problem. If that is the case I need mine done.
My husband thought my paint was scratched where the mirrors were weeping. I told him it's just where the water trinkles down and kind of stains the paint until I wax it off. It looks bad.

| Haven't seen nor heard anything yet on this. I'll keep everyone posted the moment I get some info. There are a few new bulletins I have to add to the website (nothing of much consequence), but nothing on the mirrors yet. |

| Okay, I know this is a crappy thing to do, but I'm posting here so I will get those auto. e-mails to alert me when new posts come to the thread. I don't want to miss this TSB, I want it done ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 |
