This bothers me for a while.
In Outlook 2002, when you start a new email and type in a mail recepient, Outlook will try to fill in the name or email address as you type. This contact may or may not be in your contact list. This is a good feature except when people get new email address, this email may be sent to the old email address.
Is there anyway to clear this cache in OL?
Thank you. |

About AutoComplete name suggesting
The AutoComplete feature is on by default, and it will suggest names as you type in the following boxes:
To, Cc, and Bcc boxes in an e-mail message.
E-mail field in a contact card.
When you type the first letter of a name in one of these boxes, AutoComplete begins to suggest possible matches based on names you have typed before. The more letters you type, the greater the possibility of AutoComplete finding a match.
Names that you use less frequently will move lower in the list over time, and eventually will no longer appear.
Click the name you want to enter in the box. If you are using the keyboard, select the name using the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW keys, and then press ENTER (or TAB). If no suggestion matches what you are typing, continue typing. The AutoComplete feature will remember what you typed the next time you type that name.
Note To delete unwanted suggestions from the list, select the unwanted suggestion by using the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW keys, and then press DELETE. |

You can also do a search for this file: *NK2 It is the file that contains all of your nicknames, find it and delete it. |

komondor,
Most of the time, the autocomplete in my OL 2002 shows names. The problem I have is when I creat a new email to John Doe, I will see 3 John Doe listed. I know only one is correct. So I had to pick one, hit enter then make sure the email address is correct. But I noticed recently that the correct one is always the first one now. I just highlighted #2 & #3 then hit delete as you suggested.
hammermdx,
I could not find the file. Is it *.nk2 ? |
