Starting Problem - not immobilizer - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hey Everyone,
I seem to have an intermittent starting problem. I've looked at the threads in problems, but don't seem to have found my problem.
Every once in awhile, inserting the key and turning will produce no result. There's no cranking, so I don't think it's the immoblizer. Yesterday, my wife had it happen to her twice within an hour, and then got stranded at the grocery store. When I arrived, I put my key in and it started. I've had it happen to myself also. ITs a new battery, and everything else lights up fine like a Christmas tree.
We took it to the stealer today and (big surprise) they couldn't duplicate the problem. I could use any help possible, since they want to charge me now for investigating the problem. If I can pinpoint the problem, maybe they won't.
Thanks in advance for the help!

On another note, I thought I'd give an update on ownership. I'm one of the early members on the board, and I've had a 2001 since August of that year. I don't think I'd buy an MDX again, let alone an ACURA. Why?
1) Granted it was a first year model, but there seem to be too many problems. I'm on my Third transmission, and there have been a host of other problems. (do a search on my handle)
2) Its not really worth the price. ITs not that luxurious as compared to other cars in the range, and a lot of competition has caught up.
3) I like the german feel too much these days.

That being said, we'll probably keep it for a few more years until we drive it to the ground.

75k miles and counting.

I had this happen only once and at that time was told to step on the brake, push on the shifter and turn the key all at the same time. At least I think that was what I was told. Memory is a little short some times. That seemed to work. Don't know what you are calling the immobilizer.

It's a possibility that your Park/Neutral switch is slightly misadjusted. If it doesn't know that it's in P or N, it won't crank. Next time it happens, you might try wiggling the shifter to see if it'll crank. You're right in thinking that it's not the immobilizer -- that only turns off the fuel pump when it doesn't recognize the chip in your key.
