| I have heard that Honda has quietly switched from Toyo Roki oil filters to now contracting Fram to supply the filters? Can anybody confirm that the Acura MDX filters have suffered the same fate? |

Well, one thing I should point out is that while American Honda does mix stock from other manufacturers, they are not, for example, Fram filters spray painted blue. They are manufactured by Fram to Honda specs, and are NOT Fram shelf stock.
I haven't seen a Toyo Roki filter on the shelf in at least 5 years. The Toyo Roki ones used to come in little cardboard boxes. Part number on them was 15400-PR3-004 as I remember. Just checked the shelf, the current batch is Canadian made by Honeywell.....but I've seen Filtech more often than not in the mix. The bottom line is that all the Honda filters are made to Honda specs, so not to worry.
That, and in the time I've been with Acura (10 years this coming October), I've never seen an Acura engine fail (save timing belt breakage and collision). |
