Maybe EGR valve.

Someone on this forum described similar symptoms which I believe turned out to be a transmission problem. I have a somewhat similar problem - when driving 25-30 mph, I press the gas pedal ever so slightly and the car shakes - but it only last 1-2 seconds usually.

My '01 did that "light throttle shake" thing for about a month before the "Check Engine" and "VTM-4" lights came on (in that order), which turned out to be a failed EGR valve. I thought it might be the transmission, but everything was smooth after the EGR was replaced.

My money is on the EGR Valve. I had both the slight rumbling through 3rd gear and the stomping when you put the pedal to it. The lights never did come. Replacing the EGR valve cured the stomping (shaking). The T/M was also replaced.

The best thing that you can do is take the vehicle to your favorite mechanic. Do not tell him what you think is the problem. Let him do his own trouble shooting. After he makes a diagnosis then you can thell him what you think if that is appropriate at the time.

Exhaust Gas Recirculating valve. It's part of the pollution control system

Ya know, I get that same stupid problem with the 'shaking' and it happens to be that my Check Engine light and VTM light does come on. So if I replace the EGR it will stop? Holy Hell, what am I waiting for then. It's driving me nuts!
