For the past week have noticed a fluttering or hesitation while cruising at 40 mph. Only seems to happen in the morning, not on the way home.
The feeling is like I am running out of gas and the engine is loosing power. If I step on the gas, the engine acts normal and it accelerates.
Any ideas? |

| Sounds like the dreaded tranny issue. |

| Naw, possibly (probably) the EGR valve starting to go bad. Lotsa threads on the EGR valve! |

happened again this morning, only seem to get the hesitation/flutter/ stall at 40 mph, about 2 to 3 miles from home while cruising.
filled up with Amoco (just thought I would make sure it wasn't something with the gas) over the weekend.
No signs of problem monday or tuesday.
have called the dealer, and they will take it next week to check. |

| I had the same exact problem and it turned out to be my tranny. they replaced it on my '01 at around 46k. good luck. |

i also been getting a very intermittent "flutter" at 20 mph for year or so - now i notice right at 40 mph as well.
i also get like a drumming noise at right front engine compartment at about 45 or so. weird!
both always under very very slight accelertion on flat surface.
they did the tranny inspection per the recall and they did the egr.
no fix prob.
dealer kept car for ddays as they tried to replicate either problem.
they say could not replicate either - so still they no fix
flutter! awesome discription word !!!!!! it tells is all for this problem!!!!! |
