i'm looking at a base 2005 mdx. local dealer msrp with destination is $37470. i'm doing invoice online and i get 33242 less 1107 holdback. i want to add running boards (i cant climb up into a suv in a skirt) as well as roof rack. i cannot locate pricing on these items and want to be prepared when i go into local dealer with my offer. does anyone know what these options run? thanks!

karen,
Check out hondacuraworld. I believe both items are listed there. The roof rack is the base carrier.

I would actually try getting into an MDX that has running boards. Some people think that adding the running boards makes getting into the vehicle more difficult.

Not unless you have kids. Mine love that extra step.

thank you phins2rt. hondacuraworld had running boards for about 445 and roof rack in a few different styles for under 150. i guess that is the price i should expect to pay the dealer?

From a stealer? No way! You can get them to budge a few tens of dollars off the inflated price or discount the installation price. Although some posters have said they got accessories free.

dj-mdx2: oy, i don't even want to ask what they are going to charge.
i can't find the info on edmunds or intellichoice, so no way i'm going to look like a woman and ask the dealer what they cost. maybe i'm better off doing it after market? so far i have gotten nothing free.
i hope my total offer of 33750 (without accessories) before destination of 570 is reasonable.

karen2005,

The best thing is to buy your accessories aftermarket from hondacuraworld.com You can install them yourself, or get a friend to help you. Good luck.:29:

karen,
You can go to Acura.com and get general pricing for accessories. Of course you will have to add an exorbitant amount for installation. If you can do the installation yourself, I highly recommend it. I believe hondacuraworld has the installation instructions for both accessories. Good luck with the purchase.

Karen, see my reply in the Side Step thread for more info.

One thing to consider is that the dealership may match prices. Both my Acura dealer and my Infinti dealer has matched prices on some accessories at the time of vehicle purchase. Good luck.

Note: phins2rt is correct regarding install instructions - Tim's website has all install instructions in a downloadable format.

thank you for the info on the msrp for running boards. i will throw that in when the dealer balks at my trade-in (98 Explorer XLT 149,000 rough miles). i got into an MDX with sidesteps and had no problem. the roofrack can go on after market, it doesn't look too much like brain surgery.
thanks!
