after months of research, i have finally decided on the mdx! now, it seems no dealers are willing to budge on prices. i have priced a few different dealers and i am not sure if i am getting the runaround because i seem naive or what....
i had originally taken the my car to a dealer in charlotte for a trade in who gave me an obscenely low price...i walked out. i ended up selling the car and am now driving one of my husband's company cars.
on the fence, need advice!
it seems late may, early june is a random time to purchase a new vehicle when so close to the debut of the 2006 models, can i wait thru the summer? also, the whole hoopla (yes, i am have been a lurker for 2 months!) of the 2006 redesign has me nervous. the dealerships i spoke with tell me "no" to a 2006 redesign but how do i know they are telling me that so i will buy the 2005's?
should i bite the bullet now or wait????? help! also, anybody with a name of a dealership and/or salesperson? (in nc)
thanks for your help and your time. at some point, i will be joining as an owner, it is just a matter of when! :) |

You mean to tell me they are trying to charge you full MSRP? That sucks. MANY recent buyers have bought MDXs very near or at invoice price.
I wouldn't worry too much about a "total" 2006 re-design. No doubt they might add a few colors, or options, but I am confident there won't be a "new" MDX till the 2007 model year (fall 2006). This is just my opinion though. My point is, the 2005 MDX is great, so why wait?!! |

Hendrick Acura on Independance QUICKLY offered $2500 off MSRP.
They just increased it to $3k off now.
I am also wondering about buying an 05 so late in the year....thus my determination to get at least close to invoice. |

You should also try Crown Acura in Greensboro and Flow Acura in Winston.
I live in Charlotte and priced all three. While it would have been more convenient to buy in Charlotte the the saleperson was very nice, Flow and Crown gave me better deals by about $500-800 |

For that little difference I would always buy locally. There are just too many benefits to having a local dealer.

If these were very far away I would agree, but for me, the difference is less that 40 minutes. I would drive 40 minutes for $800 plus the Crown dealership has provided me with excellent service and never tried to oversell or overcharge me (I have not had the same experience in Charlotte). |

Leith in Cary has great prices too. I used Leith against Performance in Chapel-Hill and got the better price from Chapel-Hill(38900 for Touring/RES before Tax)
You could always have them deliever it to you if you buy it from them(I bought from Performance after haggling for a week - who ended up not having it in stock and bringing it in from Winston-Salem). Make sure they truck it in
Make sure you use an internet quote from somewhere(www.edmunds.com is what I used) too as sometimes they have special deals and coupons
FYI - the general consensus of the borad is that 2006 will not be a redesign. The 2007 will be when the new MDX comes out
Kyle Denham is the person I worked with at Performance. We bought our previous MDX from him. Great guy, really nice - but you have to push him hard to get a good deal - which we did by having several quotes in hand.
Hope it helps!
Ming
BTW - we (and our daughter) love the car |
