| Went to pick up my new MDX (Touring+DVD~Silver) Tues. Had a 9:00am delivery appt. My salesman came 45-50min. late and proceeded to inform me that not only was the vehicle not prepped but the body side moldings were on back order. Set up an appt for this Sat. and left disappointed and angry. I think at a minimum he could have called the dearship to say he was going to be delayed. Went home and he calls me to tell me that now the car can be delivered at the end of the day. When I tell him this is inconvenient, he has the nerve to say that the dealership "is not going to be happy" that they have to reprep my MDX. I will leave my comment to this to your imagination.:3: :3: |

| Sounds like he went out of his way to get the deal done. Not good that you couldn't just get it done as scheduled but they did get the car ready. Your reaction makes me wonder what he really said about the dealer prep. |

I felt annoyed that after driving a half an hour, waiting at least 45 minutes and leaving because they could not have my vehicle ready, that his primary concern seemed to be that the dealership didn't want to be bothered by having to deliver my car on another day.
I understand that people make mistakes and I think he was sincerely sorry for the error otherwise I would have ended the transaction. Unfortunately, my busy work schedule this week made a later delivery impossible. Bottom line-- his comment was stupid and irritating to me in light of my inconvenience. |

That is the kind of equivocation and excuse-making so commonly observed these days that it has evolved into making it damned miserable to transact any kind business. Seems service is a bygone concept to virtually everyone in the U.S. other than a true professional.
Used to be that you could walk into any store and every employee could answer any question you had on any product. Also used to be that when you made an appointment to buy an expensive car, the salesman was there on time and gave you what was promised. Nowadays it seems that keeping a promise is viewed more as a mere bonus that we should be grateful for, rather than simply something that one can count on.
It has gotten so bad in most industries that simply switching to another store means only that you drive a little further for the same crappy service.

You must have missed the part where he said the BSM's were on backorder. I'm not defending the hungover salesman or the dealership but when they realized he was ticked off, they did what they could and got it ready that day. My gut feeling is that the salesman only said that they've already prepped the car so it's already to be picked up. But since he was so huffy he heard it different.
When I picked up my X, they had no idea we were coming but the transaction and car were ready in 35 minutes. It was also last day of the month, quarter and FY. But I don't think I'd be arrogant enough to complain about something out of their control just because I was buying a $40,000 car. That's as pretentious as it gets. Get a life. Grow up. Ask for some kind of compensation like free oil changes or free BSM's. You're the guy holding the check. The pressure's on the dealer, not you. So get what you think is fair instead of stewing about it. And simply let others know your experience.
A lot of this has to do with the lack of smooth by the salesman. He should have called in advance when there was a problem. He should have phrased the prep thing differently. But for those of you who don't know how car dealerships work, the reason he said that is they want to get money for a car yesterday. They lose money when they don't get a deal closed on time. I'm not excusing the dealership for what transpired but if in fact the BSM's were actually not there, they probably made some kind of arrangement with another dealer or got them from another car and kicked ass to get it done. |

I would guess that it means companies aren't as concerned with service if the bottom line is met. I personally like to see both customer service and sales meet company expectations in every industry but that isn't always the case. When some of us bought our MDX they were in such demand that some salepeople could care less about obtaining your business. They didn't need to cultivate a relationship because there were 5 other just like you that required less. |

I don't understand what they mean about having to "re-prep" the MDX. Either it's ready to go or it's not....
Remember, you will probably never talk to the sales guy after the sale. The people at the dealer that matter are in the Service Department!! :cool: |

They prepped it after he left later that Tues without checking whether he could pick it up that night. Since he couldn't pick it up till his appt Sat, they would need to re-prep it because it would likely be dirty from being on the lot till Sat. |

Exactly right! Actually they prepped it after the originally scheduled delivery time and called me hoping I could come back a second time the same day.
Picked it up Sat. Love it! I have been using it all week but plan to turn it over to my wife tomorrow. |
