Very happy to say that I just finalized a deal tonight for an SBP/Ebony '05 MDX NAVI. Delivery next Tuesday night. Can't wait!

Wondered if any of you could pass along your experiences when taking delivery. I'm sure the salesman will go over main features of the 'X, but did you notice any significant issues or problems? Were there good questions you thought to ask ahead of time? Were there questions you wish you would have asked after the fact?

Thanks for your thoughts and for this great forum!

IMHO the most important thing to do when taking delivery of a vehicle is to do a complete and thorough visual inspection. You need to be looking for scratches, dings, and factory paint flaws. Check the bumper/headlight alignment, and paint coverage at the fuel filler door area. Check for scuffs, scratches, and defects of the interior. Also open every door including hood and hatch.

As far as specific questions to ask......Can't think of any. I loved learning about the functions of my MDX on my own. My salesman didn't know anything anyway (especially about the NAV)!

My MDX was delivered to me in the parking lot at night, DON'T do this. Make sure it is daylight or the MDX is inside the service drive with adequate lighting. Check everything, especially the exterior paint surfaces. Most new cars that are damaged at or before delivery sustain damage on the front or rear bumpers or fenders and doors. Check for dings, dents, blemishes, scratches, etc. Also check the interior leather seating surfaces, carpet, headliner, and cargo area for stains. My MDX had a defective third row seat headrest that had to be fixed at a later date. I would suggest checking all the headrests before leaving the dealer. Also, check the cleanliness of the engine compartment. My engine was very dusty and dirty which I found a bit disturbing because I dropped a lot of money on the truck. I would also ask them to refrain from applying any tire dressing because it always fly's off onto the body panels of the car which looks horrible the next day you go to admire your new toy. Hope this helps !!!

The most important thing after you take the delivery of your vehicle is to grab a digital image and head on over to the SageBrush Pearl Club and join the brotherhood :D
