Okay, my X is about to due for her first major (40,000km)
even thought the manual only suggests to have oil, oil filter and air filter changed, but i would like to have the ATF and power steering oil changed as well.
i am buying those two fluids off ebay from a Acura dealership...
but i just want to know how many bottles do i actually need?

ATF: 4 quarts?
Pwer steering: 3/4 pints?

i am planning to have those fluids changed every 20k from now...
should it be alrite?

i apologise if this has been discussed before~

p.s when do you guys have your rear diff, and transfer case fluid change? just want to have a rough figure~

many thanx!

According to the 2003-2004 Acura Service Manual:

VTM Fluid is 15,000 miles (24,000 km) or 1 year.
30,000 miles (48,000 km) or 2 years.
Then every 30,000 miles (48,000 km) or 2 years.
Capacity 2.9 US qt (2.64 l), use Honda VTM-4 Differential Fluid.

Replace transmission fluid at 45,000 miles (72,000 km) or 3 years.
Then every 30,000 miles (48,000 km) or 2 years.
Capacity 2.9 US qt (2.7 l), use Honda ATF-Z1

I find no schedule for Power Steering however, Capacity is 1.29 US qt (1.22 l). If equipped with Power Steering Cooler, 1.33 US qt (1.26 l).

If you are doing this yourself I know there have been threads in the past on VTM & tranny replacement, you just need to search. I do not recall seeing one for Pwr Steering, but I do have the procedure if you need it.

I can understand the VTM & tranny but IMHO the Power Steering would be overkill unless the fluid is contaminated and/or the screen in the reservoir is blocked.

I have a picture series with information on my experience changing the power steering fluid. I wouldn't bother with this until its time to change the timing belt and spark plugs. Because the system only partially drains (like the ATF), you will need more steering fluid than you think, depending on how many flushes you want to perform.

Search using my username and the words "steering fluid"
