It would not be "easy", but anything is doable for a seasoned installer. The liftgate has a mechanical opening mechanism. The "locking" mechanism is electronic....but let me make sure I understand what you are asking.
You want the hatch to raise up at the push of a button? A good installer can make it happen, but it will be a custom job (high cost). Plus it will be a challenge to get the factory key fob to accommodate that function.
If I had to take a guess on cost, I would say $600. You should talk to your local stereo/alarm installers and see what they think.. |

| Or you could buy the Lexus instead. I thought it was kind of a silly option but to each their own. Or is that not what you were asking ? |

On a recent trip to Lancaster, PA with my wife I saw this in action on an RX330. Not only was it raised with the push of a button but it lowered too. About as useful as headlight wipers but to each his own as you said. |

I take that back. I guess there could be some physical limitations involved that would make it a necessary option. Maybe that's the thinking behind those third row electric seat backs on the Expedition. But other than a driver height issue, I guess I would question the ability to drive and make an evasive maneuver if that were the case. |

It might have been useful to have it for my wife since she is quite pregnant now and closing the door takes some effort. Otherwise, its not a huge deal.
A cheap remote could be a long stick with a hook at the end of it so you could open it from a distance. Just place the hook where the latch is and pull. Remote opener :2: |

Headlight wipers/washers are actually great if you live in a cold/snowy area. Having owned SAABs before getting my MDX, this is one of the SAAB features I miss the most. |
