Hello All,
I'm planning to replace engine oil for my X very soon. ( this is the first i do by myself).
But I'm still a bit confused about which oil i have to select.
"Mobil1 Synthetic 5W20
Is this the best one for my X???
I live in Massachusetts. The weather is hot during summer, cold, snow in winter. I drive 70% city and 30% highway.
Please help me make a right decision.
Thanks all friends. |

tlhurlbut is correct. This is a real "wordy" subject. Many of us have our "favorite" that we use because we think it is best or just because of habit. I happen to use Castrol Full Synthetic. I think it is a good oil but I would be hard pressed to defend it as the best oil. In general I think that full synthetics are best but maybe not for everyone in every situation.
By the time that you get through with this subject you will be as confused as the rest of us.
Good luck.

| Mobil1 5W-30 from Sam's club is $4 a quart for a 6 quart box. I prefer the wear properties of a 30 weight oil in hotter temps. I'll use 5W-20 in the winter although I've heard all sorts of arguments regarding oil weights, mpg, CAFE ratings and engine wear. |

Lets see. We'll work this out 1 more time..........................
Rebuilt engine (from dealer) $2500 (approx)...................
New engine (from dealer) $3750 (approx)......................
Oil change using Mobil One 5w-30 (or whatever is close for your area!).. $25-30 (approx) ..........................
Is it worth it for your engine 2 have top notch quality protection??
It IS in my MDX. It's cheap (realitive) to the other costs. That's 'nuff said!!! |

It's unlikely anybody is carving out a headstone to put this topic to rest any time soon. ;) |

I use Amsoil, a bypass oil filter with a toilet paper roll as the element, a tornado fuel saver in my air intake, and a K&N air filter that allows that tornado swirl to get into my engine real fast. I only have to change my oil every ten years or 100,000 miles and I'm expecting to get 55 mpg when my air gets swirling fast enough.
I'm going to put a magnet on my fuel line to align all the gasoline molecules and that should be good for another 10 mpg.
My car is so fast I had to put deer whistles on the bumpers and a rear spoiler to keep the pressure on the rear wheels.
I had a stain on my carpet but as soon as I sprayed on some OxyClean it disappeared.
My car will be even faster when I get that order of CortiSlim and I get all this extra cortisol out of my body.
I've got this long list of of prescription drugs I'm supposed to ask my doctor about too. |
