Changing the VTM fluid is very easy if you follow the instructions in this link: http://acuramdx.org/forums/showthre...light=vtm+fluid
Try doing a search for the other stuff you want to do yourself. |

I think that if you are asking this question then you don't have the equipment and knowledge to tackle the job. There are many alternatives to taking it to a dealer. Your local garage, most tire stores, Sears, any of the Quick Lubes, etc.
DO NOT jack up your vehicle and go underneath it unless you have GOOD vehicle stands. NEVER get any part of your body under a vehicle that is only supported by a jack(s).

| I agree ! It not worth a 4500 lb vehicle slamming down on you vers. pay someone to do that. I have a 3 ton floor jack and I still get the creeps...... |

WOW. Those "jack stands" are taller than mine.

| That reminds me - this is what happens when you don't stick to the recommended tow rating.... |

This is one of those cases where having a big ass would be better than having a small one................:2: |

Back on topic...
Nothing magical about these cars. Fluid changes are very much a DIY job.
Get the SERVICE manual, read up, tackle it.
VTM4 and ATF are duck soup.
Radiator is easy, the block plugs are a bit tougher- skip that and do the coolant 2x as often and your good.
Brakes are simple. All the inspections are simple.
Even the timing belt isn't terribly difficult. (Notice I've left out the valve adjustment..)
Remember, the dealer charges $80-120 an hour for service, yet the people doing the standard fluid changes make $8 an hour. You CAN do just as good a job.
Good luck
Ard
PS Now, I will admit that my sisters ex husband decided to help her out by changing the oil in her VW rabbit- drained the oil, changed the filter, put the plug back in and filled it with 3 qts of oil. Unfortunately, he filled the radiator and stopped when it was full.
Car went less than a mile. |

Sorry G. Colton--you're wrong on this one. I was given a quick 1 hour tutorial by none other than Ardvarkus, and with the service manual in hand, tackled every service between 15K and 60K now--without any previous diy-ing. And everything still seems to be running smoothly, knock on plood...
