| I filled up yesterday and my MDX held 22.2 gallons. I must have been pretty empty! |

| Did the X sputter when you pulled into the gas station? Had to be EMPTY!!!. Hope to never get that low on mine! |

My highest was 20.9.
You surely pushed the envelope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| It's entirely possible that the gas station is counting the gallons too fast, and it wasn't really 22.2 gallons pumped. I haven't heard of this happening in years though. |

I remember that. There was a big expose on 20/20 or some show like that. It was only in between round numbers so it wouldn't be obvious at common dollar amounts of gas pumped.
By the way, I once pumped 36.7 gallons into the X. |

Was there a trail of petrol on the road on your way out of the gas station? :2: |

No. The seals on the tailgate are much tighter than you'd think. |

About two weeks ago I put in 21 gallons when I had almost a quarter of a tank left. The pump just kept on going by itself. I finally had to tell the attendant to stop it.
It was at the gas station right before the GWB on the Palisades. The pump was going so slow that it took 15 minutes to fill that much. Not to mention the 30 minutes I had to wait to save about 30 cents a gallon.
Anyway, I've driven about 250 miles on it at 19.2mpg and still have over half a tank left. It kind of freaked me out at first since the needle didn't move below the F until after about 150 miles. |

I would be suspicious of a gas gauge problem. Something could be causing the sender to read wrong.

Yeah right, how many extra gas cans did you have in the back. A new 05 MDX is listed as "Fuel Tank Capacity - 20.4 U.S. gallons " on Acura's website. |

A better question might be why would anyone let the light come on before filling up? |

| I squeezed in 21.6 gallons once when the X was tilted a little. Don't remember which way it was tilted though. |

I let the light come on almost everytime before I fill up. I'd rather not visit the gas station unless necessary.
This last time the trip computer on the navi said 0 miles till empty. I guess it was wrong! :D I think when the computer says empty you have 2 gallons remaining. I also think this is a configurable parameter via the navi. |
|
|
| Dr. Ken |
| I once drove about 8 miles past the point where the trip computer said "0" miles left. Then I was only able to put in 18 gallons. So I don't think that the computer is very accurate. |

Hi guys!
I fill up tank, I can only drive 262 miles for full tank. I drive 75% local.
is this too low for popular X

Thanks |

Interesting to see people can filled up over 20 Gallons of gas. I understand maybe '04, but definitely '05 has bigger gas tank, but don't think it is that much bigger than '01 ~ '03's 19.x tank.
Anyhow, to Dr. Ken , depend how you looking it, my trip computer has reserved 20 miles of gas by default. In which once it hits "0", I should able to drive approximately 20 more miles. But I never dare to try it out. :D
To huylanmdx , when you indicated full tank, are you talking about fill up 18 to 19 gallons of gas? or when the light came up? It will depends on how you drive the X. But with 15~19 mpg on 75% local drive, I think it is normal. |

You need to define local.
My "local" driving averages 17-18mpg. Some 30 mph with no stops. On an average trip I probably drive 15 miles. Most of that will be 35-40mph. Probably stop at 20 stop lights on trip.

To G. COLTON
Hey you got a so good mpg. I never reach 17mpg for my "local" driving. My trip is usually 2-3 miles for local and 15-20miles for highway.
Next week i will have a trip up to Montreal to see how my X eating the gas. |

Amazing - coming back from Jacksonville Friday we stopped in at the first exit in Alabama east of Mobile. Three stations and two were out of gas and the third had a huge line. Went ahead and got in the line to think it thru - checked the Navi, which said the nearest stations were 21 miles away, so we stuck it out. Filled up 1.5 hours later - held 19.5 gallons
By the way the navi was wrong - 4 stations with no lines at the next exit, 11 miles down the road :3: |
