| Does anyone have a Canon iP4000 printer. I need to replace my HP Deskjet 882C printer (has developed some problems). My main use would be for generic B&W printing, color printing, and some duplexing. I really do not need for photo printing since I have a dedicated photo printer for that (Canon i950). Let me hear your thoughts on the iP4000 if you have used one. This printer seems very reasonable as far as cost ($ 95 after rebate on Amazon.com). |

The inkjet printers are low on inital cost but the supply cost is a complete rip off. Go with a b&w multifunction laser printer such as the Canon ImageClass 5530. The toner cartridges have a 5,000 yield and cost less then $50 per cartridge. You may be able to find one for a couple hundred. There is also the fax option for a little extra.
I know HP has small b&w laser printers as well but HP cartridges are more expensive with a lower yield. I don't know any inexpensive models off the top of my head that duplex unless you flip it over and feed it through the bypass. |
