It is tough to photograph the canyon. Just too much to stuff into the view finder.

I would stay right at the Canyon at the Kachina Lodge on the Canyon side. That way you will be able to get a great view of the canyon during sunset and sunrise. The El Tovar is a great place to eat. There are also a few other resturants right in the immediate area that are reasonably prices and very good. Here is a good link for more specific information and reservation services: http://www.grandcanyonlodges.com/index.asp

Didn't Chevy Chase "acquire" some money from that hotel in a movie?:D

visited 3 years ago. we did the Grand Circle of parks leaving Grand Canyon for last.. well worth the trip/ heading back next summer to do a 9 day rafting trip from phantom ranch to lake mead. CANT WAIT.

8 mile hike to the bottom should be awesome.

Amazing Pics!

Can't wait to see it tomorrow. We're at Flagstaff today on a 3 weeks yearly roadtrip.
So far we've been at Sandia Peak, Taos Pueblo and we are heading fast to Palmspring to shoot up to Yosemite.
So far, my 59K miles 2001 MDX is purring like brand new!

..also, since we are staying only for a day and a half here at Grand Canyon with two 7 and 9yr olds girls, what are your tips? So far, we are thinking about Heli ride vs Imax plus day trip that our kids can tolerate.

Dont miss a sunrise at Mather Point. Breathtaking!! But getting 7 and 9 yr.olds up that early may be tough. I had to make my reservations for the rafting trip 18 months in advance. Hotels in the canyon book quickly, especially El Tovar.
