Is this a good price, for an ACURA MDX Base model - $32k? This is around 1800 below Invoice?
What is a good credit score to get the low APR?

Pl.share your thoughts. thanks!

I'm assuming you're asking about an 05? That sounds good, if it is. Last time I checked, Honda Financial gives the lowest APR to Beacon scores of 720+. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the update. Yes, this price is for a 2005 MDX base model. Are the prices very low nowadays?

Depends on your region, but in general the prices are going down. My friend got a quote for a Touring NAV/DVD in Connecticut for 38K, a full 2K below invoice. Have you asked around with several dealers, and checked edmunds.com, kbb.com, etc.?

This price is in the Bay Area. I have checked with a couple of dealers so far. If you have any buying tips, pl.let me know. Is GAAP Insurance needed, if we take the Acura financing?

Thanks!

I am also looking for a 2005 MDX touring/NAV/DVD. All I am getting is 1000 below invoice.

I will provide you all the details of my dealer once I sign my papers this week...I don't want to see any surprises...

But sure, you should be able to get atleast $1500 below invoice.

1800 below invoice. . . what has this world come to!

That or the 06 is really going to be a new model.

Did they quote the below invoice price right away or was it only after haggling with them ? I am asking this as I intend to buy an MDX (still undecided between RES & NAV+RES) within the next month. I also wonder if waiting till July/Aug end will make any difference in the price due to the 2006 model.

Thanks

I've been offered $38579 (which includes the destination fee) from a dealer in the bay area for a 05 Touring w/ Nav and DVD player. Trying to find out if this is a good price. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

I spoke to the Internet Mgr, and they indicated that they are offering below invoice prices because other manufactures have lowered their price significany due to Volvo, GM, etc. lowering their price.

In the Bay area, I have been able to get deals on MDX/Touring/Nav/DVD for close to 38K from some dealers.

I will let you the exact price when I sign the papers.
Acura MDXer
lpax,

I would greatly appreciate that. Let me know the dealership and who you worked with, etc..

Thanks

Just signed the paperwork for the MDX Touring w/ Nav and DVD for 38,279 (which includes destination). They are also giving me the Cargo Cover andwWheel locks and promised to give me a Full tank of GAS for FREE!!!! Was also able to get the .9% interest on 36 months.

Bought the car from Pleasanton Acura in California. Hope to pick it up tomorrow. :)

Black and Saddle, so I guess I am going to the Dark Side...

Good deal, AcuraMDXer,

I bought mine (2005 Sage Blue Pearl) touring/NAV/DVD at 38179 from Autowest Acura on Steven's creek.

GAP insurance is always a good idea on any new car purchase, especially if you don't put a ton of money down. HOWEVER, DO NOT buy the insurance from your dealer. Check with your auto insurance company, they are usually much cheaper on the GAP protection and if you have an incident that requires a claim you will have a lot of red tape and hoops to jump through if the coverage was purchased through the dealer. For example, my dealer wanted almost $800.00 for the coverage which translated into an extra $13.33 per month compared to to my insurance company who wanted an extra $40.00 per year added onto my policy which translated into a monthly cost of $3.33 per month.

Just got a Base model yesterday. Have been negotiating with couple dealers for few weeks. Final price is invoice - $2000. $31242 + $570 destination and other misc fees. not bad at all.

I'm impressed with the deals that you guys are getting, but I'm not having anywhere near the same success in my conversations with Courtesy Acura in Sanford, FL.

I tried to go through the Sam's Club auto buying program, but never got any response. I left follow-up voice mail with the agent listed on the Sam's Club response, but she never called back.

Finally, I called today and asked to speak with the Internet Sales Manager. He wanted to push me back to a floor salesman, but he finally gave me some numbers over the phone after I prodded a bit more. His offer on a Touring w/Nav MDX:

Invoice & Destination fee + $1500 + Dealer Fee ($499) + tax, tag, & title. I told him I wasn't impressed. I mentioned his holdback, incentives, money from financing. He agreed that those are all extra profit items for his dealership, but he wasn't going below that figure.

I'll check out another dealer a bit further from me. The one above is only 1.5 miles from my house. Just the same, I'm beginning to think that GM will give me a better price than Acura dealer's will right now.

What a shame, too.

Yea, you can buy a QUALITY GM (is there such a thing??) right now at the employeee price. Just be careful, I just sold my GMC Yukon for my X and have no regrets. However, I did have to pay to upgrade...

What is GAAP(GAP) insurance? Never heard of it.

Typically for leases. It makes up the extra 5 grand that your vehicle has depreciated by driving it off the lot. If you total your vehicle shortly after leasing you will still owe the full value of the vehicle but your insurance company will give you the depreciated value - gap insurance covers the difference.

By law in New York GAP insurance is included in your lease payment.

This may be the same requirement in other states as well.

They get you coming and going in New York do not they?

What if you do not want this insurance? As long as I am responsible for the payments it is none of their business just how I meet that responsibility.

This sounds like that life insurance racket that I have seen banks/finance companies try to pull when a person buys a house. There are a bunch of suckers born evey minute and somebody is always trying to milk them.
