Lately my big thing has been restoring an old camper, and now I've taken on another pop-up to play with :)

I have to say that my family had a BLAST at Jellystone Park here in Western NY over Memorial Day weekend. I have a target goal of July 4th to get the house painted and work done, and then I'm going to goof off every weekend and maybe a solid week or two, just going on family camping excursions

Here's some pics of my done camper, and of my project:

My kids are 5 and 2, and I must say that this is an excellent way to build family memories :)

My wife's family vacationed around America's national parks in one of those campers in the 70's and she still tells stories to us about it. I'm sure your kids will love it and knowing how you like to tinker with old things and restore them - that camper will look fantastic when complete.

Congrats!

I love camping in a 3*+ hotel with gourmet food and a golf course :D

Very nice. Wish I had the time to do that stuff. I'm still working on the wife for just one night in a tent.

I'm gonna post pics of myself and my family out camping once I get my scanner hooked up.

You guys with kids don't know what you're missing! :)

Oh Tim :trustme: I precisely know what I'm missing :D Like every year, we decided to camp in this fully furnished cottage in Cape Cod this year. Three weeks and counting down.... :4:

The only bad thing I had to deal with was a clog on the septic hose :noshiz: :flush:

The nice thing about it in our situation is that the kids felt so at home in the thing that getting them to bed was easy :)

How long did you get the cabin for?
anjan
A week. That place gets expensive. But can't complain with the amenities they are providing including someone who comes in and cleans up the 2 bedroom cottage every day. And its only about 6.5 hours from Rochester...

That reminds me - I have to order a cargo tray and possibly a bra from you before I hit the road. What do you think is better for keeping the back pristine - cargo tray or liner?

Depends on what you carry....what are you bringing?
anjan
Some suitcases, toys and things for my daughter, igloo, and few small sundry items. My other concern is when my in-laws visit it'll be 6 of us and the tray can't be used with all of us in the car.

Conversely, the tray seems to be a better protection from spills, sand etc...

You won't be able to use the liner with the third row up either. In your case the best thing might be one of those heavy wool knit Navaho-style blankets :)
anjan
No seriously :D I do have a blue tarp folded up back there but since we won't be using the 3rd row for this trip, I was thinking if $$$ is justified for the cargo tray. Maybe I should just go for the nose mask and keep bug jelly off the car?

The reason I suggested the Navaho blanket is that it's easy to fold and WILL absorb spills, whereas the tarp will just allow the spills to roll off and onto the interior carpet.

The nose mask will make a lot of sense especially in the stone chip department even if just used for trips.
