Driver's seat lift - Click HERE for Original Thread

I just bought a 2003 MDX and the tilt steering doesn't tilt enough for me and I can't get the seat in a comfortable position to overcome this (I am 5ft 41/2inches tall). Has anyone heard of putting a 1-2 inch lift under the driver's seat and does the seat come out fairly easily?

I wouldn't recommend doing that....could impact the safety of the seat if you ever got into a collision.

That's a good point, but there's also the safety aspect of having the seat in an ideal position, for seeing out easily, preventing distractions, etc.

I would recommend seeing your dealership (which is normally shunned around here, because of price! :p ) because they'll be able to be sure about the safety issue and I'm sure someone somewhere has done something like this. They should have some idea.

The safety issue should be considered, though. Hammermdx is right, IMHO. But if it's done right I figure you oughtta be OK.

Good luck!

You could also check if there is a company in your area that does modifications for people with disabilities. They do things like hand controls, wheelchair access, and doing a seat height adjustment should be a piece of cake for them.

Do you have a base or Touring? My Touring can adjust height and tilt and I'm not very tall either :)

It is touring...I am still playing with it and maybe it is just a matter of getting used to it. I am used to a wheel that tilts more.

You've probably discovered this already but the driver's seat control is 8-way on the Touring, and you can adjust height, tilt and forward/rearward position. My beef is there's no really comfortable position to put your right arm on. Good luck!
