These are the results of analysis of my MDX tranny fluid by Wear Check. Based on the results of the analysis on June 2, 2005 which showed aluminum just at the warning limit of 25 and increasing iron levels I had my tranny fluid completely changed (ie not a partial drain and refill) today using the Honda Transmission Flushing machine at a Honda dealer.
The vehicle is mostly highway driven and occasionally pulls a light trailer. It has the Tow Package installed with the bigger tranny cooler.

| What were the comments from the testing company? The aluminum number would have me concerned. |

CSIMO: Wear Check stated the following:
RECOMMENDATION: Resample at next service interval to monitor.
CONTAMINATION: There is no indication of any contamination in the component.
OIL CONDITION:The condition of the oil is acceptable for the time in service
WEAR: All component wear rates are normal. An increase in the aluminum level is noted. |

| I take it that the ATF has never been touched since new. If that was the case, it seems the analysis came out pretty good for never doing any 1 X changes, etc. |

That is correct. This is the original fluid.
I actually got a great deal on the transmission flush. The Honda dealer incorrectly quoted me the price ($50 Can) for a simple drain and refill with 3 L of fluid.
They flushed the tranny with Honda's Transmission Flushing unit and thus changed all the fluid (8L) and honored the quoted price!!! |
