| I recently did a DVD upgrade on my 2002 Acura MDX. I installed 2 Visual Logic Headrest LCD's. In doing so I damaged the clips that hold the seat back onto the seat. The clips are small, white, and plastic. Seems like a 50 cent item. I just cannot find them to buy. What is a good place to start. |

Your local Acura dealer parts department can order the exact clips for you. Or through the internet you can contact Tim at hondacuraworld@aol.com (www.hondacuraworld.com). |

| If the clips you're talking about look like spikes with rings on the bottom, my friend who's a mechanic for MB, told me that they are pretty much an industry standard. You may be able to find them at auto shops like Pep Boys. He gave a couple of them to me but I may need them in the future as soon as I gather the courage to drill my seats. Acura also uses these to hold the plastic/leather door trim to the frame. |

I'll try pep boys tonight and post a part no (from pep boys) if I find them.
Thanks |

OK, so Pep Boys was a no go. They had the Honda clips that "look" very similar, but once I got them out of the box and tried them...they were too different.
I have a Helm service manual that gives you specs on every part in the car. In this case they just refer to these as "clips" and they say to replace them if you remove the seat back.
Still looking... |

Did you try calling your local Acura dealership? They might have them in stock if they need to be replaced at every seat back removal. |

| I should have bought some from Tim. I just bought two of these clips from a local Honda dealer (Crystal Lake Honda, 210 North Route 31 ,Crystal Lake, IL 60014). These JAGS charged me $3.95 ea for these stupid clips. He must have doubled the price after hearing I had an Acura !!!:D |

If you have a "falling off" problem with your seat backs, Acura may repair it for free.
I think the service bulletin is "02-006"
They will replace the plastic braces with metals.
I never have a problem since. |

My '01 MDX had the seat back of the driver's seat fall off and it was impossible to reattach by just replacing the plastic clips because the plastic seat back shape had changed. There was no excessive force that made it come off, just a poor design. I have to agree with another poster that after spending this much money on a car it was discouraging to see how flimsy the parts are and how cheaply the seat is put together.
Tim at www.hondacuraworld.com mentioned the TSB and sold me the reinforcement kit that was available. After drilling a couple holes and installing the metal reinforcement bracket to the seat back, the plastic clips attached to the seat fairly easily and the repair seems to have worked (so far). |
