I just bought 05 mdx last weekend and was persuaded to buy the 7 yr/ 100k warranty for $2495. I was told that it is refundable if I do not use it. Is it worth it? Did I get rip off? thanks in advance.

Persuaded or "FORCED"?? I purchased extended warranty but it was my choice. I paid 1400cad for 7yrs/160km. I don't think it can be reimbursed. But it can be transferred if you plan to sell it.

Check out:

Warranty Price Link

7yr/100K/0 Deduct is about $1700. I believe their might be a return period if it is the Acuracare warranty. Do a search on this site, I seem to remember others cancelling their dealer policy and repurchasing through that site.

Just to clarify, the premium price on the referred to 7/100 warranty is mostly due to the 'refund' option. In 2003 when I purchased my 7/100 warranty from the dealer for $1400, I was given the option of paying an additional $800 (or $2200 total) to have the 'full refund option if not used'.

This is a pretty good gambler's bet. Most of us (excluding the 2001-2002 tranmission issue owners), will never use the warranty. This is a way to have the coverage if something very major goes wrong, but if nothing goes wrong you get all your money back (you do however lose out on the use of the funds over the time period).

So again, this option comes down to those who are risk averse versus risk takers and those who may not have better opportunity costs for the funds.

I think I will shop around a little more. The original quoted price for the 7 yr/ 100k (refundable) was $2795. He said he can put me down as his cousin and give me $300 off. BS! I should have read the fine print carefully. It said the max I can get back is $2500. Obviously the guy was making up the $2795 price. Anyhow, thanks for all the help. What is a reasonable price I should be expected to pay for a 7 yr/ 100k refundable or non-refundable? thanks

Go figure! I picked up a MDX w/ Navi today, monthly payment of 565.00. They tried to sell me a 7/100k with scheduled maint for 3/36k, it ges better, get this a new payment of only 689.49.
difference of 129.49 a month. This equaled 129.49 X 60 months of only 7769.40. hmmmm.
