Could anyone help me to solve this problem?
Last night I forgot to close the MoonRoof. I figured out there's light rain at mid-night to make the seat all wet ( not too wet).
After starting the car, the SRS light on, then its keep on during i'm driving.
I knew this relate to airbag and seatbelt but i'm afraid it will cost too much for repair.

please give me an advise for this problem. I felt so painfull for my X.

thanks

Since this may be a safety issue, if I were you, I'd probably take it to the dealer. The SRS may still be under warranty (60K?) - look in your manual. Or sometimes when the Honda techs diagnose no issues they just clear the code. Good luck!

Ditto, take it to the dealer!

I checked the warranty book that i think there's no warranty for 60K.
50K that's it.
Can you guys estimate how much does it cost? I just called Honda dealer to make appointment. I can't see them until next tuesday.

thanks

Hard to say until you have a diagnosis.

Could be the seat belt buckle sensors or the passenger seat occupant sensor if they got wet. u will need a dealer to scan the computer & check the fault codes. they will be able to tell you exactly what is triggering the srs light. hopefully all they will need to do is reset the light but not likely.

The manual says if the seat gets damp, the SRS light would go on. It also says to run the A/C on full to dry things up and that should take care of it. My wife spilled a whole bottle of water on the front seat and the same thing happened. I just park it under the sun with the windows cracked open for a couple of days and it went away. But if you live in Oregon, that might be hard to do.

Good luck

P.S. When this light goes on, the SRS is disabled, so don't drive the car.

More than likely the OPDS sensor in the seatback got wet. Hopefully nothing shorted out which will require the seatback cushion to be replaced.

Wouldn't advise using the seat heaters until everything is absolutely dry.

Just dropped off my '01 with the SRS light staying on solid for the past week. Dealer called back and said that the driver side belt buckle needs replacing but no parts will be in until Tuesday 7/5. I was given a 2005 RSX as a loaner, a little too small for me but at least the airbags will deploy if I get hit

BTW - Dealer said that you should get into the shop ASAP if your SRS light stays on as this means that (in almost all cases) the airbag system has been compromised and may not work properly in a collison.

don't feel pain. Life is too short to feel pain on just machine. :2:

However, I also understand how you feel. Airbag light always mean a lot $$. It is because the parts themselves are very safety critical, in other words, it passed multiple verification/test, regulations etc, designed with better technology etc.

Also, dealer may b$ ing and scare you because it is safety items. However, parts are parts. Please be prepared to understand what parts you need to replace and how much each parts are...

Go to acuraoemparts.com and familiarize yourself on most parts price such as,

side impact sensors
seat belt tensioner
weight sensor (passenger side)
side bag

etc etc.

As you can see, it is not that much expensive per each parts. Then, go to dealer. Dealer will put "disgnostic tool" into your OBD scan socket (put your right hand under steering wheel, there is a socket....) and will find DTC code. Dealer will immediately know what causing SRS light comes on. Dealer will attempt to try to reset/erase the code. If it can not be erased, dealer will tell you which parts are wrong... Then, since you know the possible parts price already, you can estimate how much they should charge you... the labors to replace any of above items (unless its actual airbags or curtains), shouldn't exceed 1~2 hours, which is less than <100 per hour in any stealership.

Therefore, if the quote is exceeding 200 bucks labor (at maximum) + parts price, either negotiate or go to other dealer.

However, don't be too much pessimistic, not all the dealer is stealer. and in general, acura dealers are "in general" more decent than any other dealer (Say, Toyota dealer has been really horrible to my experience... unkind, and ripping me off... refusing warranty service etc...). My local acura dealer has been pretty decent (not perfect nor satisfied, but decent compared to Toyota dealer etc... ).

So, good luck. The point is, don't feel pain, it is just car.... your life is much more important....

They're not lying. Just as with the ABS/TCS/VSA will not function if the light is on, if the SRS light is on...your airbags will not deploy.

And if it turns out to be a seat belt tensioner of buckle...the seat belts have a lifetime warranty, so there will be no cost there for parts.

 I didn't say they are lying. Some dealers are taking advantage of victims of the modern super sensitive safety devices.

In a lot of cases, SRS lights are also turned on just due to electrical momentary malfunction without any apparent failure. In such case, it only takes a lot less than even a few min to reset/erase the code. Then, even in such cases, some dealers charge a lot of $$. They say it is because of safety related items, they need special diagnostic tools, and special technician etc etc bla bla bla... All they need is factory code reader, which anyway any dealers must have. To operate factory code reader, they don't even need any training, since the design of such code reader is so straight-forward, just hook it up then the code pops up!

I was giving an advice per my experience "for" our fellow members to be "prepared". I didn't mean to call dealer lier. there are some dealers like that though...

Again, per my own experience, my local Acura dealer has been pretty decent and reasonable in various electrical systems malfuction diagnostic & services on my multiple acura's.

Our SRS light comes on when there are things sitting on the passenger seat. I read in the manual that it signals something with improper weight balance.

I believe the thread is about the big red SRS light above the gas/temp gauge.
There is a smaller yellow one at the bottom that will go on if someone leans in the passenger seat the wrong way, or a small child that is too light making it unsafe to energize the passenber side air bag.

By the way, the big red light just went on this morning, and stayed on. Fortunately, still under the original warranty, I will find out Monday what's wrong.

My light came on a few days ago on my '01 MDX so I took it into the dealer yesterday.

I asked the dealer if it was true that Acura extended the warrenty on this and he said only certain parts. I am not sure if my car will be covered no matter what since it is a Canadian model and according to HOA the warranty is voided in the US. This is what we were told by the dealership when we bought it when we asked them to certify it. If it would have been covered under warranty but now won't because of the Canadian thing then I am going to complain to HOA as this is a safety issue.

In the meantime they gave us an '06 MDX to drive with DVD, Navigation and the cool backup camera. We are leaving for a weekend getaway on Friday afternoon so I hope it takes them longer to repair as I wouldn't mind racking up a 1000 miles on their car.

My red-colored air-bag icon also lit first thing last Thursday morning. Restarted the vehicle but it was still there. Then called the dealer to make an appt. A few hours later at noon, I started the car and by then this warning light had magically cleared itself!:8: But I dunno if it's 100% auto-fixed or solved... lately I don't see the other air-bag light (amber-colored) on the center dash light up to say Off when nobody is sitting on the front passenger seat. It only comes on during the self-test part when/before starting the motor. Maybe I still need to go to the dealer after all.

Just heard from the dealer and they said that the Control Unit is out and needs to be replaced at $300. He told me that it will not be covered under extended Acura warranty due to being a Canadian model. Called both Acura US and Canada and no help from either one. I guess they do not take safety that serious.

Anyhow I hope to have the car back on the road tomorrow with, I hope, working airbags.

Oh yeah on top of it they are charging me $25 to overnight the part otherwise I would have to return the loaner car since they know that I am going on a road trip over the weekend. They said I could drive the car but just know that none of the air bags will work. That is nice.

My SRS light came on not too long ago. I took it to the dealer to be looked at and they said it was the control unit ( $400 ) and they would have to order it. I picked up my MDX without the control unit and the SRS light is OFF?!?!? I can understand if they cleared the codes, but if the unit failed, shouldn't it come back on, or is the dealer screwing around with me,

BTW, I have the extended warranty, and it was not covered
